When you miss out on grabbing Rasheed Wallace in the free-agent market, next best thing: Rasheed Wallace "Lite."

That's how you'd have to characterize the Cleveland Cavaliers reportedly meeting with free agent power forward Channing Frye on Monday ... one day after learning that Wallace wouldn't be coming their way.

Frye is certainly no Wallace, who will be heading to Boston. But both are the kind of big men the Cavaliers are looking for: a four who is capable of stepping out and making shots on the perimeter to space the floor for newly acquired center Shaquille O'Neal.

Call it the "Big Prerequisite."

Frye played in 63 games last season for the Blazers, averaging just under 12 minutes per game. He averaged 4.2 points per game, shooting 42.3 percent from the field and 33 percent from beyond the arc.

Anderson Varejao, who logged a lot of minutes at power forward for the Cavaliers last season, is an unrestricted free agent. And he would seem to have less value for the Cavs now that they have O'Neal.

Wonder if Raef LaFrentz is healthy.
