![]() Madison Square Garden, the biggest and one of the most famous sports and entertainment venues in the entire country, is in the midst of a problem with the New York Knicks. They are trying to look like the NY Mets and find a way to lose instead of win on the court, though. Off the court, President of basketball operations for the NY Knicks Donnie Walsh is trying to put a good product on the court and at the same time clear as much cap space as possible for 2010 when the likes of LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, and others will be unrestricted free agents. So far Donnie Walsh has done a great job creating cap space for 2010 but Walsh could have done things better. Like if you wanted Stephen Curry so badly, then move up one spot, trade your pick and the 29th pick you got from the Lakers for the GS Warriors pick. The New York Knicks have around $30-35 million to spend in 2010; now with that money comes responsibility. Donnie Walsh can't take Shaq's advice and say, "if they give me a $35 million dollar a year extension I'll sign it right now." So what should the Knicks do this off season and how should they spend their cash next off season? My Guide to helping the New York Knicks: This Offseason Trade Eddie Curry and Larry Hughes (apx $22 million) to the Houston Rockets for Tracy McGrady ($20 million). Its a great move because it gives the Rockets a replacement for Yao in Curry and a shooter in Hughes. It gives the Knicks a great shooter and its like a one and done option because T-Mac will be a free agent next off season and they save two million for next year. And they will have T-Mac's $20 million coming off the books so if he does good it helps him and the Knicks get the cap room back again. Its a win-win. Next Offseason Keep in mind they will have $35 million to spend Sign SG Dwayne Wade $110 million over seven seasons ($15 million) Sign C Amare Stoudemire $110 million over seven seasons ($15 million) That's it. I really don't see them signed LeBron James, because I don't see him leaving Cleveland. Having the Knicks sign Wade and Stoudemire gives them to great players, along with Lee and Robinson who the Knicks already have. It's going to take a few more years for the Knicks to become the Knicks of old, but this is a great start. Alan Hahn:
Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

That's kind of really easy to say, no?
