I was just reading some where that KG, Paul and ray, along with coach and gm, all paid Rasheed a visit trying to convince him to sign the MLE to play with them.

Exactly what player on our team has any influence on this team, someone to help lure a player away from the bigger contract to play here. I clearly remember allan and LJ signing here with a chance to play with ewing. I mean, we have not one secured player on this roster, and some one started a thread about are we rebuiling. Take away Nate and lee and you officially have a pick up game.

Kidd-age and all- gives us some credibility...I think he's an important aquisition and we should hope he comes to his senses. The most wanted aspect of this team is a veteren leader and kidd without a doubt fits the position.
I was a little against it at first but after reading the piece on the celtics recruiting plan, i just thought that in 2k10 we need to have a player rep-ing the franchise. Lee and Nate are NY type players who can play a key roles in the grand scheme of things.

Yes I agree. We need good players to serve as ambassadors for us especially after the Starbury era where all we could recruit was Jamal Crawford, Jerome James, and Jared Jeffries.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

sadly, the only ones who can serve as a team ambassador really are guys like Al Harrington, Larry Hughes or Chris Duhon... these are vets who other players have played against & know around the league... we can't be sending our young guys to attract veteran FA's to NY & both Lee & Nate are RFA's themselves, so they're out of the question.

Not if we some how keep them, but no.. i don't see nate as part of any recruiting team. Al and larry are lame duck status, all we have is the allure of playing in NY and MDA's free flowing offense.

i agree, the only ones who can effectively recruit for us are MDA & Walsh & selling them on the lure of playing in NY

good point on kidd. if you look at the cap, its going to be around $58 mil. jeffries + curry is only 18 million. factor in chandler, the rooster, and hill and douglas, and you're only at like $25 mil with 6 players on the team. there is still at least 4-5 meaningful spots to fill, and $33 mil to play with. kidd making $5 mil really doesn't hurt the team at all and as you say he will be a good guy to sell the team because he'd be so sweet in this offense.

you have kidd/douglas at point, chandler, rooster and hill are all forwards. curry sucks i will say he may be a backup C at that point. jeffries will still be a serviceable swingman. that is 7 guys, if you utilize the remaining $20 mil smartly, you can have two very good players on this team -- whether its freaking lebron or not it doesn't matter as long as they make smart signings. there are a bevy of good guys available there are countless topics on this. the knicks can't pick the right 2 guys out of this list:

dirk has an opt out, dwade, amare has an opt out, redd has an opt out, ray allen, steve nash, brandon roy is a restricted FA, manu, joe johnson, boozer, bosh, mike miller, rondo is a restricted FA, ty thomas is a restricted FA, the ghost of tmac).

not to mention that they will have jeffries and curry expiring after 10-11, meaning another $18 mil will be opening up in cap space WITHOUT EVEN GOING OVER THE CAP. (ie they can spend a MLE the year after, draft picks, etc).

What I be meaning is that Kidd is over priced and over the hill now so he will not be good addition no matter how you put it. it would have that feeling of spinning your wheels.

IT DIDN'T work with the Mavericks who have a much better roster than us, then why is it good for the 'up-and-coming' Knicks?

WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

it didnt work with the mavericks? what are you referring to, them winning it all?

look at it this way. for $5 million, is 9 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, 41% from 3, 80% from the line, and good D for 40 minutes as a starting PG good value?

that being said, apparently the mavs are offering more money and years. if it takes 5 yrs 35 mil to get kidd, i tell him to hit the road. i like him at a 3 yr deal, i love him at a 2 yr deal, either way, i' do it. 5 yrs and a maxed out MLE, no thanks, not at 36.

The Mavericks gave up a very good young player for Kidd and were paying him on a max contract. That's a completely different scenario than what ours would be.

The Mavs also gave up a draft pick, I believe Ryan Anderson, and alot of cap space by sending expiring contracts. The Kidd trade for Dallas was a horrible mistake. Kidd would be a nice pick up for the Knicks but they would only be sacrificing some cap space to get him.

aye. kidd is just so decrepit tho!

and put it this way-- you know what my Nets-fan friends are gonna be saying? They're going to be making fun of us because we keep getting star players way past their prime.
