List your top favorite knicks player from the past decade and say why.

Mine: Larry Johnson. at 6-5, this guy never gave up. he defended superstars like Tim Duncan in their prime, while he was severely injured. He hit big shot after big shot, and was an amazing team leader and defender. He was the GLUE that held the knicks together.

The "BIG L" is my choice he took on mourning when in big games while Ewing played that "Georgetown Alumni" neutral game. He took on guys with sizeadvantages like no other knick had to do and successfully got the job done.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Starks lost his heart. It was sad. One of my favorite games with Starks was versus the Hawks... he lost to Steve Smith and the Hawks, but made a 5 point play...

you gotta love 6'3" SGs... if he could have only played the PG spot.

Patrick Ewing was pretty good too.

I have 3

1. John Starks - Pure heart. He was so competitive. He rose to the occaision. He went blow for blow with Jordan. He on occaisions matched greatness. He failed on night but it never kept him down.

2. Derek Harper - supposedly past prime player. He revolutioned the PG position before his knick days. The handcheck rule was the :derek harper" rule.

3. Anthony Bonner - 2.5 years as a Knick. He had no offensive skill at all but he played so hard you had to root for him. Players today can learn from his effort.

Finally a Ewing fan!

For all the players that have been listed here, Ewing was better than every single one of them based on pure talent and he reall did play his heart out. LJ guarded PF's like Duncan but Ewing who was drafted as a defensive specialist worked his ass of to become offensive minded and was an extremely dominant Center in the league! LJ and Oak are good but their is no need for a team leader if u strive only for mediocrity.

I'd say...

Ewing

Oak

LJ

...in that order.

They were hardcore players in their own right. They would not back down. That's the way to be.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

yeah, and ewing had two bad knees and a half healed wrist and still produced. not to mention his glued together achilles heel. a lot of players played hurt on the knicks and gave it their all. did'nt oakley play yhe whole season with a screwed up toe? point is there should not be anyone greater the past decade than ewing. yeah, i like starks, spree, houston, lj, oak, and x-man. but these players can not compare to what ewing did from 1990 to 2000.

topic was favorite player, not the best player... ewing was the knicks for years, period. ewing was like a tim duncan or a shaq in terms of quality and value.

John Starks was my favorite player from the past decade, he had more enthusiam and passion than any other knick player who had played with him. Although he blew up in that dreadful 2 for 18 performance vs the Rockets, he is still my favorite player for his dedication to the team.

Ewing was the greatest of that Knick era of course, but was not entirely like-able. He was selfish and put himself over the team. Don Nelson had designs to run and not use Ewing as the focal point. Ewing would have bolted after that season as a free agent. Nelson thought team was in decline.

His ego led to the disaster trade scenario that today haunts us with Eisley and Anderson. He could have stepped back a little, lit it up once in a while, and retired with honors. His choice.

He was the hardest working player in the era and had a great work ethic. Ewing was the ultimate warrior and I respect his body of work. Just not my favorite.

That would be Derek Harper. One nasty dude whom pulled that team together. He was the floor general, our point guard.
