According to my guy K.C. Johnson's most recent blog post on Chicago Tribune's sports site, Ben Gordon is on his way to Detroit to sign with the Pistons. Having just worked the phones on this, a source tells me that barring a last second change of heart, Gordon will be a member of the team by the end of the day.

Johnson is reporting the deal for Gordon is "in the neighborhood of $50 million over five years". The source I talked to confirmed BG is in Detroit now and is set to meet with Pistons GM Joe Dumars.

I can't picture a back court of Stuckey and Gordon working too well. Especially now that Sheed's gone - they're pretty small up front too.

I guess Rip IS getting traded. If for no other reason, he was not happy about his best friend getting dealt.

I think Curry handle it wrong, and judging by is firing so did others.

What other way can you handle it. Somebody got to start and somebody got to come off the bench. Rip still has that inferiority complex that he developed in Washington under Jordan.

it's been pretty well documented that Curry didn't even bother to let Rip know that he was going to be benched. And then the divide between the 2 got even bigger. Coaches have got to step in and he never did.

Maybe Curry found some of Brown's old notes and said to himself "What would Larry do?"

The bottom line is that some coaches can't deal or in curry's case aren't experience enough to deal with veteren players with huge egos. Then when management makes business deals and sacrifce winning for $, the coach gets to bite the bullet. The one thing that has been a joy is the fact that walsh and mike d appear to be exactly on the same page.

The only Lee suitor seems to be Memphis. Hopefully those jackass don't pull our a near max-contract for him. But if they do, they can have him. I'm hoping a good team who is looking for some bench help can entice Lee to join them and we can work out a sign and trade.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

The owner for Memphis was hesitant to let his GM offer Lee a contract, so I'm not sure how certain that is.

How does a franchise take a player 3rd--see him thrive and help bring back some success[and they had what looked like a nice scrappy team going] offer him over 9+mm a year and then let it go for 1.5mm per?

Thats what FA--teams strategically pay a tad more--YES many get burnt doing so but that is what it is.

But how do the Bulls make up for the loss of Ben? Move Salmons to starting 2G and look who is out there is the SL mid level FA or LL FA--thats it. Seems like a lot of time lost for a franchise.

bulls take a major hit. he was the mvp of the team. now they'll struggle to find his clutchness. they're all in for 2010 too but the last time the bulls had major cap room, they couldn't even get eddie jones to sign. deng better bring it b/c he's the reason gordon is gone.

The last time they had cap room they wasted it on Ben Wallace. But yes, before that they couldn't convince anyone to sign. But this is not the same Bulls team. The early 2000's Bulls teams were probably some of the worst teams ever assembled. No free agent was signing there to play with scrubs. Most of the guys from those teams were out of the league in a few years.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.
