I don't like it. I don't think you can pair a pass first PG with LBJ at the 2 unless you take the ball out of the King's hands. Doesn't look like a good fit or a formula for success. I would definitely make the call, but I just can't see us stretching to far for Rubio unless we think he can develop a deadly outside game.

Yeah, although I wont complain if thats our back court in 2010/11, it will be a poor shooting one

I just think, if Rubio can't keep defenders honest because of his outside game, defenders can cheat and double team LBJ whether he plays the 2,3 or anywhere else. Curry really would be a better type of guard for LBJ's game (or another combo hybrid type guard who can shoot and handle). N8 would also be a good option to pair with Lebro, but definitely not Rubio.

He'd play the 4 before he played the 2.

He's a 3. No use trying to acquire a superstar then try to make him play out of position. You've got a superstar. Who cares who plays the two as long as it is a legit 2-guard and not a total hack.

LBJ transcends traditional position assignments, he is the LBJ position.

Yeah, but wouldn't it be ideal to put guards who can spread the floor and defend their position out there with him? Toney Douglass can guard the two, score and handle and N8 can be a real menace, guard the super fast Pg's and score from anywhere. I guess, sometimes the guys you have can be better than the guys you think you want...that's alll i'm saying.

like some others in this thread said, james would play the 4 before he plays the 2. thats ok, we can get a 2 out there and it would be:

this would be the dream team for the knicks in 2010
pg rubio
sg wade
cen Hill
pf James
sf chandler/ Gallinari

This team would win 8 championships

With two guys who like the ball in their hands like Wade and James, Rubio would be standing around watching those guys and waiting to get burned on the defensive end. We already have a pass first PG in Duhon, who has a decent perimeter game but really isn't a threat to score otherwise. The real problem with doo doo's game is he can't guard opposing PG's. Rubio will have similar problems. I'm just not sold on him and wouldn't give up much to get him.

Im not sold in rubio as well.

In Mike brown system , Lebron has played the 4 during the game when the team plays small ball. He's a 6'8 250 pound locomotive train.

It would be no problem if he plays the 4 at times in mike d'antoni's system.

I can't believe that people actually are disliking the (wishful) thought that we'd have Rubio AND LeBron. What would make people happy?

Yes, he does play the 4 at times, and he can. That's all dependent on the opposition's setup, and matchups.

What I'm trying to say is that he'll always start as the small forward.

Wade leaving beautiful, sexy Miami beach for dirty, overtaxed NYC is comical.
