Darko Milicic is Herb Williams newest frontcourt student. Can Herb motivate Darko to reach higher? It could be an interesting transition to watch.

Jordan Hill understands the meaning of struggle. Anyone comparing him to Renaldo Balkman is hung up on hairstyles. Check the FG percentage.

The health of Danilo Gallinari is paramount. Outside shooting needed.

Wilson Chandler plays guard in Summer League and has a solid year on his resume to build on.

Larry Hughes swings betwen 2 and 3 spots.

If Chris Duhon needs a blow, Toney Douglas can step in at the point.

Sixth man Al Harrington will never hang on the rim again.

It is not perfect by any stretch, but it is a start.

That's eight. Four more spots to fill on the active roster. Expect the unexpected.

The Puss level has decreased on the knicks roster. D'antoni has proven to get the best out of his players.

As of today:
Jordan/jared
Harrington/Gallo
Darko/Curry
Duhon/Toney
Chandler/Hughes

Knicks will be better next season Word!

Jordan Hill will only improve with experience.

Never underestimate a survivor who has battled through serious family challenges as a child.

New York will provide an opportunity to grow that he will not waste.

I like the evolution of the roster but don't assume any more than a few of these current players are in the future plans. A number of these guys are simply here for the interim - be it for their contract or the fact that they are simply more stable players than what we had.

As to Herb...Herb can't even motivate himself. He isn't teaching anyone anything other than how to be lazy and useless.

I'd fire him in a second if I knew I could replace him with LJ or Ewing. I'd say Oakley but that guy doesn't have the patience to do such a job - he'd just be poisonous once he realized a player was hopeless.

Cosmic - you lost too many style points with the bitter and hateful words for Michael Jackson.

Of course, everyone knows this is an interim roster. When you think about it, rosters are always interim. Nothing is permanent. My sense is Donnie Walsh has always had a three year plan with an ETA right about the time The Garden renovation is almost complete.

The random diss of Herb Williams is uncalled for, unless you have watched him work with players behind the scenes.

crzymd - thank you for the correction on The Mayor.

I still look forward to how he bonds with Gallinaria and now Hill. I can live with those three yoots getting to know each other for a year.

misterearl--have you ever noticed that your top 8 change like the seasons? Maybe you are the key--pick 9 and keep em locked and let em go. And remind the management that if they see a player they like to not give away 9 unprotected number 1 picks.

Briggs - I'm not here to play amateur GM and propose a deal a day. I simply calls 'em as I sees 'em.

Everyone KNOWS the Knicks are a franchise in transition with only two (2) players that D'Antoni has consistently gushed over. (at least according to published reports) Chandler and Gallinari. Everyone else can rent.

The Knicks are building towards 2011. Until then, the pieces will continue to be substituted, and hopefully - gradually - upgraded.

have you ever noticed that every day is a new day?

The point being Briggs - contrary to the wish list, fantasy league, one-sided, dreck for talent imaginary deals... there is only one way to improve an NBA roster and that is gradually and methodically.

If the Knicks consummate just 2 positive transactions that improve the won-loss record by another ten games per year, for two years, by 2011 I'm a happy man.

EnySpree, check this out this temporary fix and the competition for minutes from one to five ...

Duhon/ Douglas
The Mayor/ Larry Hughes
Gallinari/ Harrington (Summer League Surprise, because swingmen are a dime a dozen)
Jordan Hill/ Jeffries/ longshot Chris Hunter
Darko/ Sene (* Lee bonus because you need 3 centers) plus a motivated Josh Heytvelt (fingers crossed)

* Bonus player: received for Lee and/or Nate sign and trade

bippity - this is just getting good.

... this whole Ricky Rubio soap opera adds to the suspense. The threats from the Rubio Dad to stay in Italy makes Minnesota's investment of point guards a wise investment to protect themselves for such an occassion. It is rare when an NBA exec like Donnie Walsh telegraphs his move of making the phone call to inquire about a player.

That, or the deal was done by Donnie on a wink before the draft.

Stay tuned. As always in Knicks land it is never dull.

Can you say tampering charges?

I think that's exactly right. Also, look how much bigger we got AND we have some defensive minded guys on the roster. We are definitely positioned as best as we can be. The next month should be pretty active around the league. I think that the buyers and sellers have identified themselves and Donny probably has a few guys on speed dial. As soon as things start to develop, we are in a decent positions to make some positive additions and subtractions. Heck, just moving Q was a HUGE positive. Is there anything to him having had a player option for 2010?

That's exactly the way I feel. I would have loved to get the first pick and land Griffin. I would have loved to make some blockbuster trade that brought in lebron. I would have loved to see Walsh bring in everyone that I wanted. Once I but my fantasies aside and look at where we are I feel like a weight has been lifted. Walsh has done exactly what all of us asked the next GM to do. He has gotten rid of almost every player that was infected with the bug of perpetual losses and has replaced them with fresher, younger athletes or players with short contracts. I really can't complain. I'm just excited to see Gallo, Hill, Wilson and possible Lee and Nate and Douglas play alongside each other and develop. For the first time in a while we have some young talent and cap space. I feel good about it.
I just hope that people will like me

It's going to be a fun ride from here on out. I think we're through the worst of it. If each move makes us a little better, a little more cohesive, a little more competitive, then I say 'let's keep up the positive vibes'

The Untouchables

Bippity - just close your eyes and imagine that Donnie Walsh is able to swing a an eye-popping, made-for-television prime time deal for Ricky Rubio that does not include giving up Danilo Gallinari, Jordan Hill or The Mayor.

The place will go nuts
