Mavs trade No. 22 for three picks

The Portland TrailBlazers agreed to trade the 24th, 56th and worst of their second round picks in 2010 to the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday for the 22nd pick in Thursday's NBA draft, according to a league source.

The trade has been agreed to in principle by the two teams. It should be finalized by the league office later today.

Why would the Blazers move up two spots in the draft? The word around the league was the Kings had zeroed in on Omri Casspi with the 23rd pick. Casspi could be a good pick for the Blazers to either keep or to bring over this year to provide more toughness in the front court.

Why did Dallas do this? They aren't getting anything back of value. 2 very late 2nd round picks for dropping 2 spots in this years draft. I'd rather have the 22nd pick.

The 61st pick is just as good as the 56th pick. #56 is hardly an asset.

i don't see them getting anyone worse at 24 than they could have had at 22 in this draft, there's a pretty deep pool of talent that should be available late... i think this was a move to fill roster spots by DAL more than anything else.
