It seems with everyone choosing to ish on Memphis in terms of workouts I believe it's a safe bet they will either trade back or shock the masses and take Tyreke Evans...Thoughts...?

I don't know about shocking masses, but I do know that if I was calling the shots in Memphis I would tell that little brat, Rubio, that I'm drafting him and he has no choice but to show up. Teams need to grow some balls when dealing with players

um, he could stay in europe.

it will be interesting to see if Minnesota can convince him to go there. otherwise the kings and maybe knicks will still have a shot... longshot, but still.

he could stay in europe to the detriment of his own career...i don't know how minny can convince him if memphis couldn't. It's colder in minny. Very cold. And Spaniards, I'm assuming, would prefer warmer climates.

How is it a detriment to his career. Rubio can make a lot of money playing in Europe, and by the time his contract is done, he'll be 22 or so, I think Memphis would no longer have his rights and he'd be a free agent. He'd get stronger and better in Europe, and it would be like playing 4 years in college.

And Memphis, all this time, is the party that looks bad. It would be a public nightmare if Memphis did that. Especially after how they traded Gasol.

He might lose his luster, get injured. New draft classes come up, stronger ones, he is no longer seeming so special...many things. many things.

And what if he's a bust? It is better to cash in now and bust than to bust and never cash in. Iron hot, iron hot

If he gets injured, he's got that guaranteed money waiting for him in Memphis.

He could also get injured playing out his rookie-contract, which would leave him with lot less money, than the contracts, he could sign in Europe. Also a stronger draft doesnt matter, as he will also get better by playing on a good pro level in Spain AND he would still be (like Allanfan said be 22) which basically makes it a REAL possibility for him to stay in Spain if the environment isnt one to his liking.
Another thing is his buyout, which he (at the end of his "new" Euro-contract wouldnt have to pay. So he would also save some serious money.
Bust? We will never find out, as long as he stays in Europe, as he already proved how comfortable he is with the game there! NOBODY in Europe will call him a bust for those competitions!!!

Im not saying that he is staying in Europe, but that its a legitimate option if he doesnt like the draft results.
Still would love to see him in orange and blue, but I doubt it at the moment.
One thing I really find amusing with the discussions about him is that his critics on UK (Briggs etc.) claim he doesnt play D.
Which is one of his fortes!!!

after hearing the minny-wiz pick, you had to think that they will try to turn around 2 of their picks for the #2 pick, because rubio does not want to play in memphis.

funny to see that kind of deal is now being rumored.

i'm not sure we can offer enough to get the #2 pick, compared to the t-wolves.

rubio is not a brat.

memphis is just a sorry franchise.

they gave away gasol, and obviously do not have enough interest in winning as much as saving money.

that seems like a likely scenario now that the Knicks failed to get the #5 pick.

I don't think I would trade the 5th aand the 6th for #2. You just don't know what players will be available at those spots and to have two picks in that range, in this draft, can be better than the #2.

So, it's possible that we could still somehow move up to the 2 or even the 3 spot.
