"Rumors of a possible move to Cleveland have swirled since a group of Chinese investors signed an agreement last month with the Cavaliers to become minority owners. The move is expected to boost the team's popularity and marketing opportunities in China, where Cleveland star LeBron James is very popular."

Wow. If the Chinese are part owners of the Cavs, then there is probably enough pull to make it happen.

The Rockets are in shambles even though they came strong last year. Add this to the rumors of T-Mac leaving and Artest being a free agent, and the Rockets might be looking at some rebuilding work.

What could the Cavs offer for Yao? I don't know. But just the thought of Yao and Lebron is scary, I thin he would be a perfect #2 for Lebron and the Cavs would become a dynasty.

How plausible (or impossible) does this seem to you guys?

Yeah, Yao would be the perfect Gasol to go with Lebron. I can see Stern pushing this for so many different reasons. Don't know what the Cavs have to give to the Rockets to make it happen though.

The cavs have the expiring contracts of Z and Big Ben, plus some talent in Boobie and Mo Williams.

As if the Rockets would actually take that. The Cavs have nobody the Rockets would want for Yao, besides LeBron himself. The Rockets aren't a pushover market always looking for expirings. They are a contending team that needs to stay healthy. Not a rebuilding squad, yet.

Right, but how much longer will they choose to trudge along at this pace? The West is up and comping, undergoing a rebirth with the Blazers, Thunder, and other teams, plus the Lakers threatening to 'dynasty'. The Rockets have been spinning their wheels for many years now; at some point you gotta let go, and if they're smart I think this is the off-season to do it. The Yao era has failed, imo, and the cap space for 2010 would serve them well.

Mr. Glass can turn into Mr. Really-awesome-alloy if he is not the #1 option.

They would have to make it a three way, sending LBJ to the Knicks.

JJ Hickson, Ben Wallace, Big Z and two future unconditional 1st round picks? Maybe take back some dead weight from the Rockets other than T-Mac. It won't be easy for the Cavs.

I would think they would have to involve a third team for a real deal (no LBJ). I am not sure the Knicks really have something the Rockets would want. They would be looking for a young player with some decent experience. Maybe a three way with the Raptors which includes Bosh.

Charlie V to the Cavs a possibility as well
Charlie Villanueva will be a free agent this summer and the Bucks will have trouble signing him without taking a luxury tax hit. He was asked this week about the possibility of joining Cleveland.

"Cleveland definitely is not a bad spot. I've played with LeBron. I played with LeBron in the McDonald's All-American Game, and we played well together. Is there a possibility? Yes. Will it happen? Time will tell."

Villanueva was then asked if he could have made a difference against the Magic for the Cavaliers.

"I think I would be able to help out a lot," Villanueva said, "just the fact I bring my versatility and create mismatch problems. One of the reasons Orlando is in the Finals is because of Rashard Lewis. They have a legitimate big man (Dwight Howard) that demands attention, and they surround him with guys that can play on the perimeter."

Bucks general manager John Hammond has stated the team will not exceed the luxury tax level to re-sign its free agents.

Cavs may not be as hardpressed to get talent around Lebron as it first seemed.

It makes sense for the Rockets to try to move Yao and get back whatever they can. I don't think he can stay healthy for a full season, and I suspect that the suits over at Houston are pretty much coming to the same conclusion.

There was already talk in Houston about moving both McGrady and Ming so this makes sense. It's just doesn't look like the Cavs have the goods on their own to get him.

That would be huge. Yao is a beast and if his minutes were less and he wasn't the number one option he might not be as injury prone. If the Cavs can do this they should.

They can involve Philadelphia who probably regrets signing Brand.

the general shape of the deal could be

Brand to Houston
Yao To Celevland
Sixers get cap relief and picks
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I still don't get why the rockets would want to trade Yao? I mean I know it says the Cavs want him, but why are the Rockets going to give him up?
