Assume Curry is chosen by the Wizards. Also leave out Griffen, Harden, Thabeet, and Rubio. Now list in order of the Knick's priority. the player they end up choosing picking at the 8 spot

Jordon Hill
Brandon Jennings
Jrue Holiday
Jonny Flynn

Players chosen on picks 6 and 7 will also be eliminated from your list. If your highest rated remaining pick, matches the player the Knick's end up choosing, then congratulations, you have managed to figure out the player that D'Antoni believes has the best chance of making the Knick's better.

Hey look, something we havent done for the past 3 weeks straight.

DeRozan
Hill
Flynn

I dont want any part of those two weak-ass punks. 6'6 235? Get to the gottam free throw line if you want to be seen as a physical specimen. Dont bring the guns if you cant use 'em.
Some men see things as they are and ask why. I dream things that never were and ask why not?

I wouldnt take 1 of these players 8. There are better players back in the draft. There is probably a better play getting rid of Jefferies contract and moving back.

Something like Jefferies number 8 and 3mm in cash to Minnesota for 18-28-46 and Bryan Cardinal

Pick 18---B J Mullens 7-1 260
Pick 28---Derrick Brown 6-9 225
Pick 46 Paul Harris 6-4 240

Spend some cash picking up a late draft pick for a PG that will definitely fall like a Ty Lawson

Accomplishments

Pick up a C for the future. Add two very long athletic wings and a PG who has as much chance to be as good as anyone in the draft. Get rid of 7mm in payroll next year.

Jrue - based on upside and need for a PG.
Jennings - based on current talent level and ability at PG. Don't like the Iverson like build, but he's very talented.
Jordan - based on need for a big with shot blocking, rebounding and ability to run the floor.
DeRozan - based solely on upside, which could be tremendous.

That's definitely a plan. But the contest was to see who could come closest to what D'Antoni and Walsh decide to do. Is that what you think D'Antoni and Walsh will do?

Also please answer this question. A few years ago, Thomas drafted Nate and DLee in the 18 to 29 area. Even though it was good drafting, so high in the first round, neither of those players were mentioned by D'Antoni as part of his core. Since the Knick's need more quality starters, isn't trading down to take more prospects decreasing not increasing our chances of landing a quality future starter?

I've got high concern on this 8 pick. If I couldnt get Curry or Evans---Id rather get two later picks and let some chips fall and get rid of Jefferies contract--either Hill or Holiday could easily bust. It makes sense--anyone can say what they want about David Lee but he is a very good NBA basketball player as is Nate--the sht pick of that draft was the 8th one. If I cant get what I really want either by moving up or getting lucky--my strong contignecy plan is get the hll out of that slot--get me tow later picks or one in 2009 one in 2010 and Jefferies contract. Getting rid of Jefferies contract alone is a huge asset. you win no matter what.

We will find out a lot of these guys are not as good as we think up top and certainly a lot are NOT ready to play serious NBA minutes.

If I could move back and get Mullens and Brown -Jefferies--Id be ecstatic because that will reap benefits over the next 2-3 years. I cant concentrate so much on immediate impact unless I get Curry or Evans

if Griffin, Thabeet, Rubio, Harden & Curry are assumed to be off the board, i think the Knicks will end up taking Hill, because i think Derozan will be taken #6 by MIN & definitely won't get past GS at #7, & Jennings will likely be taken by 1 of those 2 teams as well... i don't think Evans or Holiday are really high on the Knicks' radar, just my gut feeling... if the Knicks pass on Hill or if he's off the board by the #8 pick, then i can see them trade down & taking Flynn or Lawson along w/someone like Cunningham.
