Curry-10.5
Mobley-9.5[of which 7.5 is roughly paid for]

Total-20mm

Tmac--23mm

That falls well within the 25% trading range

Houston savings year 1

Their cap reduces 3mm and their payment structure reduces 10.5mm for the year

Curry's 11mm in 2010 for the Rockets can easily be absorbed because they are well under the cap--if we throw in 500k-1mm it's a financial wash. Houston benefiting in 2009 and NY in 2010

I think that they want the 2010 space more than anything, but its not a that far fetched.

If you're Houston, how do you explain this trade to the local papers?

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I'm not totally against it but don't you think we will be able to move Curry during the season? I'd rather use Mobley's contract to move up in the draft or acquire a player with both knees.

It's in Curry's best interests to condition himself and he knows it, hence he is finally training and dieting. I know it sounds crazy but he might actually get us something good in return IF he starts playing well. (Just like a couple of years ago.)

Curry + Hughes

They can't take only Mobley they need a guard to fill in for TMac.

I hate TMac and it's no guarantee he will even play next year. So they have to take Eddy in my book. Hughes is a serviceable albeit inefficient guard who expires.

I guess the alternative is Jeffries+Q+Mobley for TMac. We still shed a little 2011 salary so I'd do it.

I hate that Walleyed Wonder with a passion though. In fact, if a trade did occur, my dream would be that he'd NEVER suit up for the Knicks.

There's also the possibility of Harrington+Jeffries+Mobley?? Yet, that doesn't solve their SG problem IMO unless they went big with Artest at SG.

There are possibilities here I suppose - but really only on paper.

exact opposite. He's the guy DW covets the most. Its all about what he's willing to give up, because he's either going 2 or 3. Thabeet's dedication to adding a mid range jump shot pushed DW from like to love. If he can hit that shot in the flow of the offense he's the perfect big for MDAs system. Doesnt have to be a good m2m defender, but a good helper and shot blocker.

I think the Knick either trade up for Rubio/Curry/Thabeet or trade down and possibly clear out more space for 2010

A healthy Curry is a major asset to Houstan given Mao can't play a full season.

You base that on what? That they picked Gallo ahead of Anthony Randolph?

like you even had to ask.

Knicks will draft one of those three... DW has Knick money and a plan to work with this time.

If we get TMac and give up Curry, I think that's a fantastic trade. Has nothing to do with TMac either, he's a bum, but getting rid of that Curry contract is A+

Eddy Curry and Hughes(or any expiring) for T-Mac. Take it or leave it. They might take this since Yao is too injury prone and Dikembe is done. They need another big body and they might be delusional enough to think they can motivate Eddy.

Mobley and Hughes for Tmac makes more sense.

Both are ending deals.

Hughes can stay ambulatory and defend while Tmac does neither.

This does nothing for us in fact it hurts us because Hughes will play the season and TMac not until game 30 or so - and even then - probably only about 30 games total.

We take TMac, they take Curry or Jeffries no doubt about it otherwise there is nothing to discuss at all here. Hughes or at least Harrington have to go because they NEED scoring.

Another albeit far fetched idea is July 9th: Eddy Curry + S&T David Lee for TMac + a young prospect maybe the guy they draft.

The fact is there are options here but no way do we make a TMac deal without dumping Curry or at least Jeffries on them and ONLY taking back TMac's 2010.

Mobley and Hughes for Tmac makes NO sense.

We'd give up $$ in the form of Mobley's insured portion of his contract. We'd give up the only player in the trade who will suit up (Hughes) & give up our only shooting guard w/o gaining anything. TMac may not even be healthy by the trade deadline, so he'd be no more of a future trade asset than Hughes.

Better to use the Mobley insured contract to move up & secure Rubio (i.e. Mobley + # 8 for Darko + # 2).

Why would Houston saddle themselves with Curry?
