According to Chad Ford, Rubio's stock is slipping in the draft.

What chance to you all think there is that he plummets to the Knicks at 8?

The more I think about it, the more it might be a real possibility

Think this out:

1. Griffin
2. Harden / Thabeet
3. Thabeet / Harden / Curry
4 Evans / Curry / Holiday
5. Hill / Curry
6. Evans / Flynn
7. Jennings / Flynn / Hill
8. Rubio

With the contract problems, worries about his athletic ability, and his lack of workouts, I think this has potential to happen

I wouldn't be surprised.
Then we'd select him and get ****ed at yet another draft.

There was a time when we said that if Chad Ford reported it, it had to be the whole opposite.

Those memories are coming back.

Ford reports on stuff he hears from speaking w/scouts & GM's after workouts, but who says what these scouts & GM's are telling him are the truth? i don't think all scouts or GMs are going to show their hand completely when it comes to what they're planning on doing on draft day to reporters... i think Rubio's going #2 or #3 overall... any team that's talking about him lower in the draft might have something mulling in terms of a trade to move up, but i can't see him falling down just cuz a team like MEM or OKL might not have a good shot of buying him out & convincing him of playing there.

If Rubio fell to #8 then there would be no real risk in taking him.

Plus there is the fact that there would be a ton of teams looking to trade with us for that pick.

Could be they said these other guys are showing up to compete against each other while he isn't. Riley stood by that rule in Miami. Maybe these GMs feel the same way about Rubio as Jennings. There are a number of factors why guys slip but it occurs and that's when you see the last ditch workout effort from them. I recall Gerald Green as a guy who had to change his no workout tune.

There IS a possibility of him falling a lot. Look at the signs:

1. Massive buyout. Rubio sues the team. Meanwhile NBA teams can't help a lot.

2. No workouts. He may be expected to be the top 2 or 3, but guys that are actually working out are showing they are valuable as well and will have less trouble playing for them next season. Rubio has even shown he is selective on his future destinations, which doesn't help with teams like Memphis.

3. Injury concerns. Some teams are worried about Rubio being prone to injuries.

4. Possible trades. Some of the teams that may try to move up don't necessarily want to do it because of him, showing this draft is deeper than advertised.

In the end, it may still be a longshot, but right now, after Griffin and maybe Thabeet, the rest is scramble eggs.

The two main reason is his contract and not working out for any team. The first reason his big buyout teams want player that come now not later. I said this week ago when you don't workout for teams most teams aren't going to pick you at all because most coaches and gms aren't going to deal with his character issues and rather pick somebody else then him. Ricky Rubio skipping his workouts is like skipping a job interview if you skip your job interview that place is going to hire you there going to hire somebody else.

Why he is skipping.

Rickey and Stern on draft order:

2. Memphis: "I ain't going to Memphis", I got a big buy out. Stern: Remember I let you move to memphis? Take Thabeet and be happy!"
3. OKLA: They don't want him. He might like team, but team might not like the young Spaniard! Stern: "Remember I let you leave seattle. Take Curry, be happy!
4 SAC: THey like Curry, like Evens a few others. Not sure about rickey. Rickey likes Vegas. Stern asks if they want rubio and they not sure. Stern suggests they take Holiday and be happy. Reminds them NY makes money the league does better, and tbe better they do the better chance he'll let them move to vegas. Washington flips with knicks and gets nate.

All is good.

i think the only reason he's not working out is because he already knows he's going top 3... if MEM or OKL aren't taking him, then i think they make a deal w/a team that wants to move up to take him that is confident they can get the buyout worked out... i don't think that buyout is going to scare off teams like SAC & the Knicks especially... the NBA is doing its best to market the sport internationally, & w/the somewhat disappointment that Bargnani was as the #1 overall pick a few years ago, i think they would like nothing else but to have Rubio taken high & prove to be the real deal... i don't think there's a Fishlips jumpshot's chance in hell that he's slipping to us at #8... if we're getting him, we're trading up to the top 3 to do it... NY won't risk SAC taking him at #4 if he's the guy they really want, & i happen to think MDA & Walsh are very high on him even though all the talk has been about Curry.

Take it all with a grain of salt. A couple quick possibilities

1.) His stock is dropping.
2.) Those picking at 3-6 are afraid someone is going to trade ahead of them and steal him so they are downplaying his abilities.

You can never believe anything you hear at this time. GM's are playing games to try to position themselves for "their guy".

-No GM in the NBA is apparently more active right now than Minnesota’s David Kahn, as he’s apparently set on “making a big splash in his first draft” according to one NBA executive, and is “talking to everyone” at the moment. One rumor that is making the rounds has Memphis sending Minnesota Kevin Love in exchange for the #2 pick (and filler). Minnesota would then draft Ricky Rubio, which could help them significantly with their ticket sales, and still have the #6 pick at their disposal, which they could use to take someone like Jordan Hill.

If that happens Thabeet and Harden drop. The Knicks should do everything they can to get that third pick if Thabeet is available.

The question is does Rickey have the juice to pick where he wants to go?

Memphis has Marc Gasol, do they really want Love?

The number 2 pick is not very valuable. What we can get at the 8 might prove to be the better pick. The only real known commodity is Thabeet.

My thinking is Rubio is not a lock at the 2 and all you gotta do is meet with the team you want to go to get a promise and then let them know there will be some doubt floated about health and/or buy out.

Does Rickey hold a juice card?

Maybe Dolan just buys his spanish team!

If Memphis trades the #2 pick for Love they are outta their mind...

The Pau Gasol "trade" didn't already indicate that?
