http://mvn.com/celtics17/2009/06/will-shaq-and-lebron-as-a-pair-give-cleveland-its-first-title-in-45-years.html

Any one think this works? Cavs lose only Ben Wallace and that Sasha guy that don't play much, and when Shaqs deal expirires they got all his cap space to retool.

If the Big Z has any pop left on his jumper he can move out from the low post and be effective at the 4.

If Shaq and lebron leave Cleveland they can retool in a big way.

The chess game of players in the off season can be a lot of fun!

I think they would still be missing the 6'9- 6'10 wing player to match up against the Turkaloo and Rashard Lewis' of the world.

Isn't that 6-8 player they have pretty good?

Am I in the minority here that thinks that entire team is garbage. I really don't see Lebron's teamates being that much better than what we he here. The defense is obviously better, but no one really scares you and Mo Willaims can play but outside of that??

They will lose Varejo too. We draft right this season and Wilson and Gallo mature there talent is not better than the knicks.

No - I am with you, the Cavs were/are tremendously overrated.

If the Cav defense is "obviously" better than ours, then I would say they are better than what the Knicks have. Especially thinking about the "Dream Week" results. It ain't all about offense.

wait...how does a team that's won 60+ games overrated? the team was in the finals 2 years ago...and lost in the ECF's two years in a row...that's now considered garbage or overrated? how many franchises have done that in their entire existence? while they may not have the 1 piece to make them champions, they are legitimate contenders.

LeBron couldn't do it all. He needs someone that can get stops on those big wing players. West and Mo Williams couln't get the job done. Shaq would be nice... but idnk if he still has enough in the tank.

Lebron is like two good starters is all I am saying. Two years ago Sasha and Boobie were considered two of their best players and they barely are in the rotation now. The cavs came up against a terrible detriot team and the hawks without horford and marvin williams. And should have lost 4-1 to the magic, who were the second best team in the conference.

The Knicks have had to deal with players because of their contracts like Jefferies and Q two guys that shouldn't even be playing. All I am saying is that if you started the following team below:

Duhon-veteran backup
Chandler-Nate Robinson
Harrington-Gallo
Lebron
Lee-Curry

I think they have a better chance of beating the Western conference in the finals. You have to look at the fact that all those guys really do is shot off of Lebron's play making abilities.

Who would you rather have:

Nate or Mo Williams?
Nate (30min) 17.5pts 3,9rbs 4.1as 1.3stls 1.9tos 43%
Mo (35min) 17.8pts 3.4rbs 4.1as 0.9stls 2.2tos 46%

Big Z or Lee

Lee 16pts 11.7rbs 2.1ass 0.3blks 55%
Z 12.9pts 7.5rbs 1.0ass 1.3blks 47%

Chandler or Sasha, Wally, Boobie, West (Chandler)
Harrington or anyone from their bench? Harrington

Really outside of having Lebron what do they really have out there. If you want to subtract Harrinton next year why not, but Lebron draws more attention than anyone in the leauge. You don't think he is going to make things easier for chandler, lee, nate or gallo.

Nate can always score and get his own shot off that's what mo williams was unable to do. I don't think people give Lebron enough credit for make a very average team special

^^ you're right, MS, you're right.

Put Lebron on 08-09 Knicks and we're in the ECF and maybe Finals, no doubt about it. Take Lebron off the 08-09 Cavs and they're not in the playoffs. This is undeniable. Can't deny it.

Which is why I think we're not far from a championship.

Lebron needs a Vince Carter not Shaq...Vince or Rip...some kinda sidekick to run the ball to instead of forcing Lebron to kill himself before he turns 25. They get that and they win...

Truthfully Lebron needs to play off the ball more. He doesn't need the offense to run through him at all times. D'antoni would get him easy baskets all over the place....Knicks have their own job to do...what Lebron's team does isn't our concern now.

The odds on a Lakers-Cavaliers finals would pretty much be a coin flip if Shaq comes to CLE and sits the first half of the season and preps for the playoffs slowly. And because the Cavs were so damned good this year they could afford that luxury... not to mention they get to platoon Ilgauskas with him. Maybe they don't have the best center in the game anymore but they might get the best 48 minutes a night.

I completely agree. My personal slant is either he needs to become a team's (1) point guard or (2) master the perimeter and high and low posts. If LeBron wants the ball in his hands he has to be distribute. If he wants to finish then he needs to focus on that. To ask someone to do both is just too much and just leads to inefficiencies.

You give Lebron a legitimate second-man, and he'll figure out what to do with it. He's that good.

Think Phoenix from a couple of years back. They were lights out, flat out impressive in the regular season.

But you just knew (or at least I did) they weren't going to win it all.

Its not Lebrons job to figure out anything. His Job is to play the game....THE COACH has to figure out a way to to make it work....that's where Clevland Fails cuz you can't just give Lebron the ball and let him do magic. Only Jesus can turn water into wine. The GM is an idiot also cuz how many little guards and power fwds/ctrs do you need?

Anybody read that Delonte West is not gonna be included in any trades? That's crazy...they need to fire the coach of the year and get Lebron a scottie pippen...even a dude like Mike Miller is good enough....someone to shoot and create with size from the perimeter.

They should look at Jamal Crawford as well. Any dude that can score and create their own shot. Adding that one guy changes the whole dynamic....of course they need a coach that will call a play other than "give it to Lebron"

Would be a great addition for them but I'm not so sure they have the pieces to get Tawn.
