You take hints where they come from during this stage of the draft, and Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni laid one on Curry.

"Before I came in here, Mike D'Antoni walked up to me and told me, 'We can't draft you,' " Curry explained. "I said, 'Oh, why?'

D'Antoni responded, "Because [team executive] Allan Houston said he doesn't want to be the second-best shooter in Knick history."

If really said that, then it appears the Knicks take Curry... if he lasts.

I don't think he does to 8. Minnesota took Kevin Love last year, the same Kevin Love that everyone said would stink in the NBA because he didn't have a dominant NBA body, who excelled in college and was pretty much a double-double rookie. Minny needs guard help in the worst way, particularly one that has range and can keep defenses from collapsing on Al Jefferson and Love.

Minny does need a guard, but I think they need an athletic wing more. Was that an ACL tear Corey Brewer had?

If Jordan Hill falls to us at 8, we better take him. Then we could buy a late first and take speedy guys like Lawson, Collison or Beaubois.

MIN will take Harden or Derozan before they take Curry imo.

Am I alone in thinking that Hill = JJ Hickson or Kris Humpheries (NBA body, but no skills)?

Much has been said about Curry not falling to 8th but the fact is there are more than 8 good prospect in this draft and considering the needs and the players available, Curry could easily be there at 8th. Same with DeRozan, another favorite of mine.

Even Hahn in a blog made a good case for teams above us not picking Curry. I think whoever it is, we will have a good player to pick at 8th and it will probably be Curry.

u'd be surprised, he's got a pretty good midrange turn around J & a hookshot that he can get off pretty well, & his footwork around the basket is pretty nice as well... he's about as lively a body as there is in this draft around the basket, anytime a ball goes up you can be sure he's gonna be around it when it comes back down... i would love to have a guy like him on my team

I'll take Stoudamire over Jay Williams any day of the week even if Williams doesn't ever get on a motorcycle. I'll take Stoudamire over Nash as well. The post player with talent and upside in the NBA should win out. Not real sure about how a team whose issue was post play and not offensive perimeter play feels that a shooting guard in the role of a point guard will help the team. I just don't get it. How many guys do you want and need to sit on the perimeter to take jump shots?

I am with Pharezone - do we really need another SG masquerading as a PG? We need a front line more than anything. Plus if the plan is really to get Lebron then we DESPERATELY need an elite front line. I know Curry is supposedly friendly with Lebron but I dont see that as the driving force behind him coming here. He needs to be next to Stoudamire with Nash at the point (doubt we could get all 3). Or maybe Thabeet and Stoudamire up front - unfortunately these are all scenarios that have little to no probability of happening.

Jordan Hill's got a similar style game to Amare & i think there maybe a decent chance of him being available at the #8 pick, especially if all the GM's are buying into all this Stephen Curry hype up top.

Curry is something that D'Antoni needs for the offense to work. I think NY gets another 1st round pick and gets a lower end big too...
DW knows that he needs NY to be competetive this year, so Lebron is intrigued. And yes, a player of his caliber you make EVERY effort to get.

I don't think Curry will last in the NBA... oh was that the question?

I don't think he'll last until #8 either.

Derozan is the pick
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

It's difficult to predict how some of the teams ahead of us will act. My hope is that Curry falls to us, cuz I think he's got the right mental make up to lead this team and run MDA's offense. Curry has the mentality of a star QB. Those guys go into a huddle and take over and all the other players fall in line and play with confidence. Guys like CP3 or Nash make things easy for everyone else. That's what I see with Curry.

Curry's not afraid of the big moment. Some players LIVE for the big moment and they thrive. He's that kind of player. Don't underestimate that. LOTS of guys can play well in the 1st 45 minutes, but when the game get's to crunchtime, they don't perform as well. How many games did we lose due to guys not really wanting to take the last shot? Guys not running the play called or when the defense takes away the 1st option, we had no one to take over and either go to the next few options or improvise? Aside from little Nate, we had NO ONE who could consistently get their own shot or create for others in end game situations.

With Curry, we have a go to guy in the clutch. I think he cen do that job better than anyone we have had since Houston.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I'm starting to hate Curry.

The hype, both self and media based, is way over the top. The Lebron is in my fave 5 tidbit left me nauxious!

As far as the player - everybody knows he is a good shooter. However there has not been one mention out of these workouts about how the rest of his game will translate. Is he a pg like AI was and his major impact on the game will come from how many shots he gets up. If so I say pass cause he is no AI whether you play him at the 1 or the 2.

Why does MikeD need him to run the offense again? What can he do that Duhon can't exactly?

For one thing Curry is a superior offensive player and he's tailor made for MDA's offense. Duhon is a solid backup guy, but he lacks the ability to take over in crunchtime and either hit a game winning shot or create an open shot by drawing defenders and making the deft pass.

Mck1 your right about curry and no other part of his game has been really mention. But the thing is, you have a guy who can shoot the ball with dead on accuracy no matter who,s guarding him. If he's getting allan houston comparison its hard to not want this guy in a shoot first ask questions later offense. And to add more to curry's creds, he doesn't just jack up illadvised shots.

Should we be drafting solely for MDA's system? Who knows how long he'll be around? I'm quite sure Phoenix would have liked the Rondo pick back especially with Kerr taking over coupled with how Tony Parker had his way with them in the playoffs MDA's last year there.

Curry seems like his ceiling is Mo williams which isn't a knock. Mo, however, was a 2nd rd pick and his game didn't translate to wins till he got to play off Lebron.
