Not sure how true the reports are, but if Lee does go in a sign and trade - what about something like this?

Resigned Lee (at approx 8.5 mill) for...

Webster (4.3), Frye (4.3) and pick #24

or add Nate (at approx 5.5) to deal (since I heard he wants to b close to home)

get back Pryzbilla (6.9) with others

Regardless, Portland has lots of quality young players and 4 picks this year - hope Lee stays but at least this would help us build for thr future. Does anybody have a better trade with Portland that is realistic for both sides, and saves us money (or gets us more value)? Let's hear it.

I think like someone mentioned--this would have to be done after FA starts. You can get away with it because it really is the same exact thing in many ways what Houston did with Sacramento and Greene[also a late pick] The one problem is it could have risk associated with it in terms of the league. And since it cant legally happen I would have to imagine the rumor is BS.

Once again Pryzbilla is their insurance policy in case Oden goes down again.

this may sound like sacrilege in light of the 2k10 sweepstakes, but i'd like to keep lee. don’t need to repeat for the umpteenth time his pluses and minuses. i'll just say the guy could be a big contributor to a winning team and a turned-around franchise imo.

The Lee situation has been hashed out beyond value now.

The short of it: At the right price he's fine. As your 3rd big man coming off the bench on a good team he's fine. As a starting PF alongside a superstar big man he's fine. Any other combo...he's not. Overpaid as a bench guy - no. Our best starting big man - no.

It's pretty simple in regards to Lee.

And with Nate as your first or second guard off the bench making reasonable money it is a no brainer to keep him. Problem is he will command a decent salary and maybe even a starting job. To that, again, the answer is no.

i'd be fine w/keeping Lee but we'd have to dump Curry & Fishlips' contracts first, which u know ain't gonna happen.

Depends on whether you believe that Sacramento was willing to take JJ2 to get Nate at the trading deadline and still has interest at this point. The only problem is that Nate would have to agree now with this as a sign and trade. Could be a lost opportunity.

all i can go on is Donnie's word & he distinctly said that offer was never on the table or even discussed, so i gotta take him at his word... woulda been a nice trade if we'd made it tho... then we could have had the cap space to sign Lee & still have enough left to sign a max FA in 2010.

Hey I understand but he denied there was a Zack Randolph trade to the Clippers in the preseason but virtually the same trade took place minus the draft picks a month or so later. Just saying, it would be nice if that particular offer was still on the table but some varibles have changed mainly Nate's status.

let's just say Donnie decides to sign both Lee & Nate w/the intention on trading them at the deadline, that's still a viable possibility but he has to make sure he gets both those guys at or below market value to keep them both a desirable commodity... what he does w/those guys is key to our longterm future... i just hope he doesn't mess this up.

We don't need to worry fellas....Donnie has proven to us that he knows what he's doing....all of his moves were incredibly smart....moves we have discusted here on these boards. I think we can trust in the fact that he thinks with logic and not his ego like Isiah or his faith like Layden.

This deal doesn't really make any sense. We don't get better, we don't add anyone worth keeping

I agree. He has to see what Lee's market is because if the kid gets a big offer and we don't match we lost 100% value.

MDA has his list of who he wants.

I trust these guys.

It seems Detroit is interested in Lee, possible 15th pick and Amir Johnson. That would be great if the Knicks can get it done.

i'm gonna hold my breath til i see what he does this offseason... so far he's made some very encouraging moves to clear up cap space, but some other moves he made that left me scratching my head, albeit minor ones... not trading Lee & Nate at the deadline however, was a pretty major oversight IMHO... i'm gonna hold off on bashing him over it if he can get some good value outta those guys before the trade deadline next season... i do have faith that he's got a plan at least, which is more than i can say about his 2 predecessors.

correct me if I'm wrong but if Walsh QO's Nate and Lee then they can't/won't be traded in the upcoming season because they have to agree and they lose their Bird rights if they do agree.
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!
If they're going to move Lee...
