Has Rubio been insisting that he wants to play in NY? If so what kind of leverage does that give the Knicks in trade talks to potentially move up to pick him?

Also, what does it mean about the Knicks not having to move up from the top 5 to get him?

With Donnie and Co. in Europe talking to him this weekend....who knows.

I wonder what they are talking about......

Make it happen Donnie

I hope they don't decide to trade up and take him just b/c he wants to come here.

Why would anybody want to go to OKC?
Like somebody is asking the guy what he wants anyways...

They ought to have some idea that they can sign him... Europe can pay as much if not more than the U.S. these days and the rules on entering the draft are far more flexible for Euro players. That said, he is a big asset to get your hands on, even if he stays in Europe for 2 more years.

That said, it is exciting to see that players are trying to maneuver to be in NY and play for Mike D. The atmosphere is changing.

If the KNicks feel that Rubio is their guy then the Knicks should go get him. I'm of the belief the if you want something go out and get it. If they have to trade up to get him then do it. But try to leave the draft with what you want.

Rubio basically holds his cards. Maybe this is why Curry was in Charlotte. We cant guarantee that Curry will fall to 8 BUT Rubio could say I will simply not play for anyone in the top 7 and if you dare to use that high pick on me--I will fck you like Vazquez did--how many teams can afford to be F like that in the top 7? That is not a good way to sell tickets or win games when your guy is still playing in another country---really he has all of the rocks here if he wants to play hardball---if you are a decision maker--whats your choice--take rubio with pick 5 and come to find out he wont be coming here for four years? It is gangster but that is the deal and he can pull it off.

That being said if we can get Curry or Rubio--I would want Curry----every time I see him in a video in the predraft or the combine--there is one thing that stands out --the guy doesnt miss it seems ever--he simply doesnt miss shots

Rubio seems like a nice person, so i doubt he would do what you just described BRIGGS.

it is likely that this is just some huffing and puffing on his part to try to sway the decision makers, but if it comes down to it he will show up and play because the young man is a true professional. it doesn't hurt to try.

Any great PG would want to play for him- he helped Nash get 2 MVP awards.

I wonder how MDA really feels about Rubio and whether he is the guy he wants. If we go PG, MDA gets the final stamp of approval. Does he truly love the Spaniard?

If Rubio pulls out though, do we have any chance of getting Curry?

rubio holding the cards seems to depend on just how badly he wants to play in the US. if team 1-7 picks him is he willing to not play here for the next 4 if it came down to that? that is how long the draft rights hold, isn’t it?

I don't think the Knicks have a chance at Curry right now. He is the best talent behind Griffin IMHO.

You realize that they intentionally don't put missed shots in highlight videos, right?

Exactly and he misses a ton, that's not to say I don't want him but I'm not going to sell the house to get him. I'm not sure what euro pg would'nt want to come to the knicks, especially with MDA's love affair with them and the fact that he's a pg. That's like eddie murphy in "Coming to America" Rose pedals and all.

I thought you meant highlight videos. My bad but you didn't specify you meant workout videos.

Only problem is the lower he drops the more it costs him on his first contract.

the pay scale really does drop.

I outlined this a few weeks ago that Stern has to broker a deal to make all happy.

Rubio wants to be here. League wants this euro star to be here. If knicks want him then we have to do a deal. Might not have to if the pay scale is ok with Rubios camp.
Stern just need call the 6 teams teams thinking of drafing him and let them know this kid is off the table if they draft him.

It may only take swaping our 8 with Washingtons 5 and nate to get it done which gets Rubio more money, and more important everyone saves face. Wiz can say with some truth picks 3-9 are a toss up anyway, so they get Nate and a player they would have likley gotten. Oka, Memph, and Sac can say they were not interested in Rubio.

Win-Win works for all!

i think they'll move up to get him if they like him period... him stating he wants to come here would only affirm a mutual interest & make Donnie's decision clearer on what he wants to do about moving up... personally i don't see any way we land Rubio unless we trade up to the #3 at least, & dunno what we could possibly offer to get up that high, unless we're trading Chandler which i hope they don't do.

screw moving up - for once, I want the knicks to luck out and score a really good player who decides he wants to play here.

Again, why is it news worthy to here a euro or any pg wanting to play here. You got the free wheeling offense and your in ny playing for a franchise on the rise. Who wouldn't want to be here, it's such a no brainer.
