This draft really doesnt have any guys that will be big time difference makers this year. Trade with Minnesota who will be in the lottery next year. You have bigs like Monroe, Favors, Aldrich, Aminu, and my favorite Ed Davis for next year. Who knows you could also win the chance of getting John Wall. Buy a late pick and I guarantee that picks 15-30 may do as well as picks 6-14.

There is some logic to that from a strict GM perspective although odds are the Knicks will get a difference maker where they are, but there won't be nay left after they pick.

In the real world though, Mike D is our coach, and to give him a bare cupboard this year would be a real kick in the nuts for a guy who didn't have to come here.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Teams that trade this years pick for next usually get a premium. If Minnesota were interested, we could probably get pick number 18 plus their pick next season if we give them our first round pick and the second round pick we got for Balkman.

if there's any shot of getting Derozan we should take it & not trade it away... he'd easily be one of the top 3 prospects in next year's draft IMO

nah, let's draft Tyler Hansbrough at #8... can't have too many David Lee's on your team.

just cuz he shot 18% from the 3 in his freshman year doesn't mean he can't shoot... Derozan shot a 51% from the 3 in HS & if u've watched him play u can see he's got terrific form & excellent elevation & high release on his jumpshot.

Lets draft guys that cant shoot the ball. Derozen is a great athlete and not a great basketball player. I live guys that can shoot the ball from the perimeter and score from the perimeter. Courtney Lee and Eric Gorden were my picks last year and I want Mills this year or I am really starting to like Wayne Ellington.

For what its worth I think Derozan shot the ball very well at the combine. Its a weak draft and he is a big upside guy so I don't think you dismiss him. I don't think he will be around by 8.

if u live guys that can shoot the rock then why aren't u gushing over Stephen Curry? he's the best shooter in this draft.. we don't need any more shooters on this team as much as we need a kid w/superstar type potential, & Derozan has that... don't tell me he's got no chance to become a Vince Carter / T-Mac type player in the NBA... he's every bit as athletic as those guys & demonstrates many of the same skillsets at the age of 19.

btw, ur boy David Lee is a piss poor shooter of the ball too... why did we draft him again? oh because he's a great athlete & a great hustle player... i guess u don't have a problem w/those types of players as long as you know them & have coached them in person.

For what its worth, Chad Ford's opinion:

DeRozan showed off his terrific athleticism. But more impressive was the solid shooting display he put on. While he still isn't a sharpshooter, he showed range out to the NBA 3-point line. For a guy who shot 18 percent from the college arc as a freshman, that has to come as a big relief.

"As far as upside goes, he's second only to Blake Griffin in this draft," one NBA GM noted. "He has all the physical tools to be a superstar. The question is -- is he Vince Carter or Gerald Green?"

The difference is Lee doesnt shoot shots he cant make all the time. Thus shooting 55% percent all the time. When you have Nate Duhon, Wilson, Harrington, shooting around 43% and Wilson shooting 30% from the three I have a problem with that. I dont mind Curry but I think you can go down in the draft and get the same player and more picks. Derozen to me is the Mike Mamula of this draft. He will wow you but get him in a half court game or make him shoot jumpers and he is dead

If you were drafting Derozen 30th then take him not a lottery pick. I will help you out TMS. Derozen wont ever put the numbers up Lee has so far in this league.

Very good points King 1--that is why I want Mullens I think with Lee and Mullens shooting close to 60%--we can accept the rest of the guys shooting threes and a lower %--I think playing with Lee Mullens and hopefully Gallinari would really do well and give us a huge frontline that can compete in the nBA. Key here is resigning Lee and making smart moves at the draft--if that means moving down 5 spots and picking up a secondary pick etc

I have this feeling we are going to take a PG at 8 and try to draft Gibson as shotblocker--he's kind of small but atleast we would be addressing some issues[or trying too]
Thats my guess if they were really trying to get pick 27

If I was a betting man I think we will have Holiday and Gibson on our team by the draft.

MDA wants skilled players who can pass and read screens. Most of this draft doesnt have that. If we get a shooter to put on the wing the off side guard can stand in the lane on pick and rolls and jam the roller. Ask Cleveland what happens you lose a series because they left the 3 point shooter wide open. Trade down get two guards that can shoot and the Knicks average 110 points a game next year and make the playoffs. Marcus Thorton is a light out shooter you can get late or Wayne Ellington

& i'll help you out King, Derozan shot 52% from the field last year... so what's the difference you're drawing here? we have Gallo who looks to be a very good perimeter shooter on this team along w/Harrington, Wilson, Duhon & Hughes who will be taking their fair share of perimeter J's as well this year & you want to add another shooter to this roster, an undersized one at that... whatever, u're free to have ur own opinion about Derozan but i will bet you that he averages more than 16 ppg. by his 4th season in the NBA.

+1 to Ellington.

Ellington definitely has the potential to be a very solid nba player. If we can acquire a late pick I would be over the moon if we could land him.

TMS I will help you out he shot 18% from three so he would be a perfect fit for the Knicks. I would take Holiday before Derozen

I was wrong that would be 16% from the 3 point line and 64% from the free throw line with 1.5 assists a game.

I'm starting to feel that way too.. I like Holliday, he's explosive. He's gotta work on his shot, but so did Russel Westbrook and he had a great rookie year.
