1 Earl Clark

2 Charlie Villenueva

Both players can have the word engima at times attached to their forehead but both kind of represent what Orlando has out on the wings. Two 6-10 guys who are multi-dimensional skill players who can shoot it out to three--put it on the floor rebound pass run and go inside.

Yeah, I chose Earl Clark in your "sleeper 8th pick thread" I could really see MikeD liking him and thinking he fits in.

Personally, he disappears a little too much for me, but I wouldn't picking up another pick and selecting him, but def. not at 8.

Sad part is that Al Harrington is probably as talented as both of those guys but Big Al simply refuses to grow up and play team basketball and defense.

Harrington is a mis-match for the opposition almost every night because he can knock down the 3, drive by people and post you up.

That said -- he seems to be content to be an underachieving knuckle-head.

I like Al Knuckleton. Wouldn't mind keeping him on for a reasonable contract.
When he's on, he's unstoppable.

This works because they have Dwight Howard in the middle. Turk & Lewis can spread the floor at the forward position giving Howard all the space he needs. Though they overpaid they built it wisely around Howard. You double Howard and they can drain 3s. You spread the floor to guard them and Howard dominates on the inside for pts and rebounds.

chicken and egg... those guys dont mean crap without the 6'11 superman cracking heads in the paint.

Anything you do well is going to look like the next trend when your playing next to a guy like DHoward.

I think the message is build a team and a style of play. Their's is size. Bos was defense and shooting. Cle has Lebron... you get the idea.

is that really fair? Who on the Knicks is better than Al Harrington? There is no DHoward here, no Lebron. I think Al showed he's a rotation guy that can do a lot of things, but isnt great at anything. Bet Al would look great next to Bron, Duncan, DHoward or filling the lane behind CP3. We just dont have guys like that

Al is at best a third option and at worst an elite sixth man. I could totally see Al as Turkeyglue's replacement... Howard, Lewis, Harrington. Unfortunately for the Knicks you have to get the number one option before you can commit to the second, and commit to the second before the third

That goes back to the Are the Knicks that far off? thread. You have Gallo 6'10, Harrington 6'9/ Rasheed 6'11. With Eddy 6'11, you put chandler at the SG and Curry/Duhon at the G. That would put the Knicks right up there with the Magic. Experience maybe lacking and steep fall off on the defensive side at the C but if you put Wallace there the Knicks would sure it up a little better. With that the Knicks would make the playoffs definitely. They may not be able to make a run but they would be able to do damage.

Earl Clark is a nice player, but nothing special. We already have a number of young forwards. If Clark had the potential to be great, we could overlook that, but he doesn't so we shouldn't. We need a young guard and a young center. Since the only good center in the draft will be long gone when we pick, we should target a guard.
