If you listen to these three guys talking, what is your opinion of them? (I'm talking gut feeling)
Some commentary is at this link (along with their videos I posted below):http://www.theknicksblog.com/2009/05/26/draftexpress-workouts-hill-flynn-and-budinger/

I was impressed by Flynn but knew he brings energy so I was a bit predisposed to like the kid. He doesn't seem super cerebral in talks but he does have an intensity or aura about himself. I guess lots of little guys do. I get the feeling that he is a very very hard worker (as reports state).

I didn't realize Hill was so well built. NBA body for sure. He seemed like an intelligent guy but a bit soft spoken. I doubt he will be soft like Frye was. I'm on the fence with him.

My problem was more with Budinger. He seemed to lack any kind of passion in his answers. It's been a while since I've seen him play, know he can shoot but didn't get a good feeling from his interview. Kind of like blaaaa.

I'm sure teams like to see the person behind the player (character, passion, etc)...

I liked Hill. Well spoken, down to earth, and intelligent- I think that he is the type of kid who will actually work on his game and improve. Being "soft spoken" down not necessarily mean that he has a soft game. The form on his jumper looks pretty good to me, and it looks like he will be able to hit the midrange shot that a PF needs to hit, as well as be a decent interior scorer. If he is a legit 6'10, 235-45, I think he would be an interesting guy to have in the center position for the MDA Knicks, even though most have him slated to be a PF.

it doesn't matter what they sound like in an interview... Wilson Chandler's as shy as they come but he doesn't play shy on the basketball court... anyone who's watched Jordan Hill & Chase Budinger knows they can play at a high level, & Hill is most definitely not soft, so i'm not sure where any concerns over that would come from... i personally don't know much at all about Flynn.

Well I did say "gut feeling" and to a point you can argue it does matter, at least in part. Clearly if a player is great on the court, as long as he is not an absolute knucklehead you overlook his interpersonal interview skills. I was meaning this just in addition to their court play. Don't you see/think that Chandlers shyness has anything to do with his play? Chandler isn't the most intelligent player on the court. He makes passes just to make passes and not out of "feel" or "intelligence" (at least a lot of the time). We can all see that in his game, and it isn't a stretch to extrapolate that out of his demeanor (extreme shyness). So I say with Chandler it rather does show a connection. It doesn't always mean that of course.

I know that Budinger can shoot the ball. And Budinger and Hill are pretty much very talented players. Well then, why did their team pretty much suck? Maybe that had a lot to do with their pg (my feeling), but it begs the question if there is something more there.

Flynn doesn't blow me away in interviews (say like Evans does) but as I said he brings energy and his on the court play speaks volumes. (Where as there seem to be questions about Hill and Budinger - both of them disappearing at times).

In NO WAY was I trying to make this only about the interview, I'm just saying it's a factor to consider (depending on the player and his game it may be bigger or smaller). A player is just not what you see on the court.
