was just talking to Enycaca on Facebook about this but i really think the Cavs would really be helped out if they made a trade of Big Z & Big Ben's expirings this offseason for Zach & Camby & would likely win a championship next year if they made that trade.

Lebron needs another offensive option on this team so they can stop playing so much isolation style basketball w/him dominating the ball & taking it upcourt on every possession & everyone else clearing out on every other play... Zach would work well w/Mo in the pick & roll also... also he especially needs a player like Camby who can run the floor & be a defensive presence on help defense & blocking shots in the lane other than just himself.

if CLE wants to hold onto Lebron, then they shouldn't care about anything else other than getting in pieces to help Lebron win a championship, & i think Zach & Camby can help him do that looking at this current Cavs roster & what holes they need to be filled... cap space is meaningless to them in 2010 anyway, they have Lebron's Bird Rights, so taking on Zach's contract shouldn't be much of an issue, & Lebron has a strong enough hold on this team to cancel out any potential chemistry problems that might arise... it's not like Big Ben was playing any sorta role for them anyway & Big Z's production will be more than made up for in the trade off of vets.

C - Camby
PF - Zach
SF - Lebron
SG - Delonte
PG - Mo
6 - Varejao
7 - Boobie
8 - Hickson
9 - Pavlovic

that right there stacks up favorably against any team in the NBA including the Lakers

IMO this is a simple & very easily makeable trade for the Cavs that will cost them nothing but money in 2010 & increase their chances of winning a championship by a pretty significant margin... i think the Clips would jump at the chance to dump Zach's contract & clear room for Blake Griffin on the roster.

It'll be interesting to see what the Cavs do to keep LeBron. At the same time if they just let everyone expire it will work out the same way. They can try and keep LEBron by signing someone like Bosh in 2010. They'll have the cap space.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

This trade will never happen. Camby has an expiring deal next year. So why move him?
Do the salaries even match up?
Like I said.....the Cavs are toast.

Zach would be a gamble because he's a "me-first" player. However, if they're not trying to get under the cap, then it's a relatively low-risk, potentially high reward acquisition.

A sign and trade for Odom would be smarter but I don't know if they have anything the Lakers want.

Z & Big Ben have expirings too... making this trade saves the Cavs $17 million in salary of Zach's final season & they have an opportunity to draft Blake Griffin in the draft this year making Zach completely expendable... they already have Kaman & DeAndre Jordan on the roster longterm so Camby is also expendable for them... the dollars would seem to match up from a precursory glance at the Hoopshype salaries listings... saving $17 mil & clearing up rosters spots & minutes for younger guys to get playing time would seem to make sense for me for a rebuilding team.

If Philly is looking to dump salary and stick with the uptempo system that worked so well for them this year, I could see them trading Brand especially considering the injuries he's had the last few seasons. Brand is a GREAT half-court system player and would fit in perfectly in the Cavs half court system as long as he stays healthy of course. Because of his salary and lack of fit with the uptempo 76ers, I dont think the Cavs would have to give up much.

76ers trade:
Elton Brand

Cavs trade:
Ben Wallace (expiring contract)
JJ Hickson/2009 1st round pick (whatever phi wants)

if i were the Cavs i'd seriously target Zach, Camby & Michael Redd this offseason... they MUST go all in for a championship next year & all 3 of those guys are imminently attainable for not too much in return... even if the experiment fails & Lebron leaves in 2010, they'll still have enough left over to be at least somewhat competitive in 2010 w/the remaining vets, & then their contracts would come off the books giving them enough cap space to target a big name in 2011.

Vince Carter wouldn't fit in well w/Lebron, he's more of a slasher... Redd would be like his Ray Allen... add a low post scorer, a spot up shooter & a defensive shotblocker to that team & they're a championship team.

Except why would Philly strengthen the team that could be in their way for the next 5 years?
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Well it would give PHI the cap space to go out and get a player that can fit their style of play. I believe Odom is a FA this offseason and I think he'd fit in well with that team. Or they can make a trade and not have to match salaries. They played extremely well w/o brand for most of the season. I think the flexibility that they get would be the key for the deal.
