I would love for the Knicks to sign the Birdman or Kleiza to a MLE. Birdman would be a perfect fit inside for the Knicks. I really hope they trade down or trade the pick for next year.

Birdman or Gortat would be great MLE targets, but only if the team is abandoning the get-under-the-cap plan

Birdman is a big risk character wise, esp in NYC.

I like Klieza but another SF at the MLE price is too much.

Rather have Ramon Sessions to couple with Evans, Harden or even Derozan in the draft.

sign Birdman, let Lee walk or play next year for the MLE

No he's not. He's a character risk, an inferior rebounder/passer vs. Lee & who knows if he can play the pick and roll? His only advantage is shot blocking.

Yeah, Briggs made a thread about this a little while back.

Birdman is good, he'd fit this team like a glove. I would go as much as 4.5 mill/year for him.

I'm pretty sure Wilcox isn't re-signing here for cheap. If we are going to waste money on anyone, it might as well be a guy who plays some very good defense, is a presence in the paint, a great rebounder and an energizer. And for much less than what David Lee is going to command. Wilcox would do well here if given the team. If given time.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Chris Anderson is about 10,000,000 times better than Wilcox. I would love him and his shotblocking.

I don't know if NY is right for him though. He just seems to like that quiet surrounding and there's a lot of temptations for him, here in NY.

The reason Wilcox didn't get time in NY was because he wasn't good enough. This is not the chicken-egg thing, he's just not that good.

knicks should be the last team to utilize an MLE when they have no idea which player(s) they can get in 2010...

Kleiza isn't a good fit. We have plenty of guys who play small forward. Anderson is a good fit, but he's on the wrong side of thirty. I think Gortat is the best fit for us.

I don't really like the idea of Anderson because I think we'll be over-paying for a 30 year old guy playing big time in his contract year - who also has a history of hard narcotic abuse.

His style of play will eventually result in missed games and I highly doubt we will get the same energy he brings today at 32-33 years of age. Once the energy goes there is very little skill in this player.

Ramone Sessions could be a much better target -- or even Gortat who is 5-6 years younger than Anderson.

I like Gortat, too, but the only reason guys like Anderson or Gortat would leave very good teams where they have a defined role is if we overpay them. Haven't we played that game enough already?

That's a good point. I think Donnie is conscious of that and won't overpay. One thing we can offer Gortat that Orlando can't is more minutes at center.

OMG - get over this Anderson is a crack head stuff. The man has cleaned up his act. Move on. We'd be lucky to get him for MLE type money.

Andersen is a nice novelty, the fact that he plays in Denver helps to clean all his faults. I'm not so sure if he is on another team he produces the way he does for the Nuggets. The Knicks have plenty of back ups they need help in the starters dept.
