Is it coincidence that the best players going against the Cavs and Lakers keep getting ejected, t'd up, and fouling out.

The treatment of Ron Artest in the Houston series may have been dismissed because of his history but has there ever been a playoff series where a guy who was a star was ejected twice on either an out right mistake by the refs or a ticky tack call? Now that the Cavs are finally in a competitive series Howard seems to be getting the same treatment against Lebron and Melo ended up in foul trouble and eventually fouling out the next game after his team beat Kobe. Some of these calls have been dramatic series impact calls in my opinion.

Ironicly I just mention in another thread how bad the officiating has been through out these playoffs, in some cases it's been horrible.

I don't think its a coincidence. Thats just what you have to do as a team to beat LeBron/Kobe

the officiating has been atrocious - and that is not even considering the given preference for superstars like LeBron or Kobe.

During games, they swing between calling ticky tack fouls to swallowing the whistle.

Yep, refereeing is just very bad, not on purpose in favor of a team.

This shyt is set up. They need to get LeBron and Kobe in the finals. Melo and Howard are gonna get the second fiddle star treatment just as Pat Ewing use to get vs Jordan.

While I agree officiating has been bad, I think you miss your point when you use Howard and Melo as examples. Officials blew the jump ball for Denver's only win and Ariza was just shoved to the ground when he had his hands on the ball right in front of the officials.

Melo earned each one of his fouls. What did you want them to do just ignore the fact that he tried to arm tackle Ariza while he sprinted down the court. In Howard's case that was a bad call but he gets away with so many rebounding fouls that it works itself out in the end. I know they nicknamed him Superman but guys just don't bounce off him without a little help.

The officiating has been bad but seems to be consistently bad. They tend to benefit one team every quarter. Alternating until the game is over.

I think the officiating is a more legit reason that the NBA is falling behind the other leagues in popularity. (As stated in the WFAN/NBA thread) then the others that were given too many tats, too black, etc.

Playoff officiating is atrocious and gives off the impression that the refs truly are puppets of the league(Stern). I can't remember any other sports that have had bad officiating impact so many playoff games like the infamous Lakers/Blazers, Lakers/Kings and Suns/Spurs games and then add in the Tim Doneghy mess.

The NBA has a serious integrity problem when it comes to officiating, whether it's the impression that the league or the officials are "fixing" the games. No other professional sports league has even close to the problem that the NBA has with officiating. Which is sad and surprising since in the NFL the refs can basically throw a flag on every play...

Jordan had his rules, Lebron's got his now... stars have always gotten preferential treatment as long as i've been a fan & i don't expect much to change.

I don't either, but this is ridiculous, let's be honest. Kobe doesn't even get these calls.

Well, human error is going to happen so I dont expect perfection but at least we havent seen 27 fouls in the fourth quarter or players being suspended for putting their big toe on the court after one of their players was thrown around like a rag doll--- you know, obvious cheating. I'll live with what I've seen this year.

This was a badly officiated game. They made it too obvious for me to try and suggest it wasn't. I'm not sure who to blame. Everyone is saying Stern has to do something but I suspect these guys are taking marching orders. From who I don't know but I don't think it is on their own.
