"The other day in practice, the thing we were working on is getting the ball and driving," Michael Doleac said. "Not just settling for the open jumpers, but looking to attack the rim and see if you could penetrate and kick and see if you can get an open shot that way."
For one night, the Knicks did this, which made Chaney look good. A coach's main job is to get the most out of a team. The Knicks possess less talent than many of their opponents, so discipline and hustle are requirements.
Against the Sixers, the Knicks moved the ball from player-to-player. At points Saturday, the offense looked like a game of Pong as the ball moved quickly from one player to the next.
After forcing the 76ers' defense to shift and become unbalanced, the Knicks found lanes to the hoop.
"I grew up playing this way," Chaney said. "That's how I want us to play."
