but did the Lakers screw up giving Bynum 64 million. He is obsolete in the playoffs, and he has got hurt both years in the league. I have a feeling they will regret giving him 64 as much as the Bucks regret giving Bogut 60+ million

I am not sure about Bynum but I would love Bogut to be a Knick. He justifies that contract alot more than most bigs, especially every Knick big recently. I think the Bucks have regrets if his back injury ends or severely limits his career in the future.

The jury is still out on Bynum. I'm willing to give him much more time. Heck how much time was Eddy Curry given or Kwame? Things need to improve, but I've at least seen some real signs out of Bynum that he could eventually mature into a great player.

He's playing on a half of one leg. He's already showed what he can do when he was healthy. It's going to take a full 6 months of rehab to get him well. Also I dont think he can suffer another knee injury--the next one would be bad-right now he needs to help in any capacity and then go into the off season and get healthy. Its the same guy who had 42 points and 17 rebounds in a game early in the year when he started getting healthy from the first injury. Unfortunately injuries stopped him from becoming an elite player at 20 years old. Right before he was hurt--he was nothing short of sensational--when he started coming back this year--and it took some games--again great--injuries--what can you do?

He's gotta use this time to actually learn how to play. I don't see that from him. I didn't see game 2 but in game one against Denver Gasol had to get in Bynums face a lot about his help defense and rebounding. At times he's a spectator....that can be him showing his experience....but looking closer his body language sucks. He looks at Gasol with a "what are you talking about?" "who cares?" "that's your man not mine?"......to me that's very dangerous. He needs to get his mind right. He has to learn these little things while he is physically unable to be a threat to score.

Lol!!! Yeah man...it kinda rubs me the wrong way. I'm not a fan of the Lakers at all but I love basketball and that's not the way you play. Like I said he needs to get his mind right.

he'll be great next season i can feel it. you dont want to push the pedal too hard, you have to be ginger at first coming off his injuries. phil jackson will make sure he cultivates a winning brain, so no worries on that.

he's one knee injury away from becoming Olowokandi. Cant have those kind of injuries and keep up in the NBA.

Not to say Isaiah was a good coach or gm, but the guy was a hall of fame player - and he didn't just barely make it in.

good question, bynum, i think. bynum has already showed us glimpses while oden just waddles around. though they're both disasters waiting to happen with those injuries.

Assuming that he does not get injured again, is it possible that he can't prosper on a team were he is not the alpha male on the front line?

Is he the type of player who needs to be averaging 30 MPG in the center position in order to develop and work out the kinks in his game?

Would he be better off on a low profile rebuilding team that has the luxury of letting him play through his mistakes without those mistakes causing the team to lose a playoff series or a championship because of his lack of production?

The reality is--this is Bynum playing at 50% capacity. If he was healthy--it would be a whole different ball of wax--I think that has been proven.

the only thing that has been proven is that Bynum hasn't been able to stay healthy.

Same can be said for Oden. Knee injuries take time to get back from. Look at Frye he still hasn't recovered from Nate damaging his knee. Fat Eddy will never recover from his knee injury, when your that big it just takes a lot more time to recover.

I agree. Glimpses of greatness are great but being injury prone wipes everything out. Sam Bowie was a very talented big man too.
