He's a tough, heady leader. Pick him. Don't get cute, don't pick some underachieving freshman or a euro phenom or little boy curry ... take Flynn, the meat & potatoes point guard who starred in a top conference. He's solid. he'll be good. Take him, and then get back to work.

"I think there aren't a lot of guys who can't fit (D'Antoni's) system in the top 10," Walsh said. "We're looking for good, all-around players who are defensively inclined."

Isn't that an interesting take by the Don?

Does that point to Holiday? We did scout a ton of Pac10 games this year.

Does that point to Flynn? That Boeheim - MikeD connection could help Flynn here.

Does that point to... get ready Briggs... Mullens? Donnie wants a big man.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Picking Jonny Flynn would be the cute thing, not the other way around.

I agree. Curry's uncanny shooting makes him an immediate impact player. He's not Jamal Crawford chucking 25 shots a game. He's got as high a BB IQ as anyone coming out of the NCAA in the last decade and he's a dead eye shooter.

He's got skills that translate to the pros. He's got a great work ethic. He's got heart and head. Not sure how that makes him cute. I am open to a lot of ideas and players at pick 8. Thats not a sure thing type slot. This is a very weak and spotty draft and I want a good rotation guy at the least. Curry will be that. Flynn might be out of the league after his rookie deal

run Nate out at PG every night and he will give you 18 pts 7 assists 5 rebs and 2 steals. I would rather do that and pay him 5-7mm a year than draft Flynn who half the athlete that Nate is.

Yeah but Nate is half the PG that Flynn could be. Not sure I pay Nate more than $5M per over a guy who could be similar at $2-$3M over the next 4 years.

Nate isnt the pure distributor Flynn is, but Nate is already a bigtime scorer and its easy for him to create off that. I also know that Nate can play against big NBA players every night. Flynn looks good driving against a lot of NCAA frontcourt stacked with 6'6 forwards and 6'8 centers.

Nothing about Flynn jumps out enough at me that says this guys skills negate his size problem (and it is a problem). Nate has already shown he can attack the glass, knock down jumpers and rip down rebounds in traffic.

If I am drafting a PG he's got to be a clear upgrade to what I currently have or have the long term potential to be something special. Is that Johnny Flynn? I think he's done well and played well at cuse but I dont see him beating out the current guys for much playing time or being the PG of the future.

Well said Fish. I like Flynn, but I'm not taking him at 8. I wouldn't mind getting another pick and taking him around 15, but I give Curry the nod over him for sure.

Fair enough, but I am going to say the same thing about Nate: I think he's done well and played well on the Knicks but I dont see him being the PG of the future or enough of a defender in any way on a playoff team, and the Knicks need that.

The dude was ATROCIOUS on D (KINGME, you paying attention, no mention of Lee's god awful D in this thread, only Nate's). And he is demanding $7M+. Duhon, who is and way a career backup looked good in the MDA system, and so I think can a lot of PG's. No way I give Nate anything near that to be our PG.

Johnny Flynn is a nice player, but imagine if Cuse had Curry running their show probably looking at a team that is final four bound.

... And as intriguing a prospect as Mullens is, he was hardly an all around player who was defensively inclined in his year with OSU.

I would love Flynn as a backup PG who could come in and provide a 15-20 MPG spark with his energy and skill, but I would not want him as my primary PG.

If I was Nate I would demand that also. He's a proven commodity scoring. He's had huge 4th qtrs that changed games. The handfull of games he played at PG that Duhon was out he had some monster triple double type nights. He's curbed a lot of stupid plays. He's a lousy defender but has been very disruptive on defense at times.. like Iverson can be. Lots of steals and deflections, etc.

And $7mm isnt a lot to pay for a starting PG that gives you 18/6/4/1.5 a night. The only question and debate is can he do it for 80 games plus and can the Knicks win with him there.

Hell... I would rather pay Nate $6-$7mm then pay Lee $9-$10mm. Its a moot point because I know the Knicks will resign Lee and Nate will probably play for the QO
