I think they wouldve went for a package of pick 8 and David Lee for pick 2. Conley really came on last year and looks to be on the verge of a breakout--they already spent a very high pick on him and they really dont need a PG. David Lee and pick 8 wouldve gotten it done--I wonder if they try to circumvent the CBA? Sacremento did it last year with Artest.

didn't we already try & get a deal done w/MEM last year to move up in the draft only to have Lee's agent practically nix the trade by saying he wouldn't sign w/them longterm?

Yes.

But let's be serious. Rubio is going to be better then freeking Conley. In fact, he already is. No way they pass him up to take David ****ing Lee and keep Mike Conley.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

i think SAC is a good match to trade up to try & nab Rubio... i doubt MEM will wanna shell out the bucks to buy Rubio outta his contract & they already have Conley on the roster who's beginning to come into his own... at #4 MEM can pick up a PF like Jordan Hill & shore up their frontcourt depth... they're already pretty much set at SG & SF w/Mayo & Gay also... if SAC throws in their 2010 pick i can see MEM doing it... Rubio would be a perfect match for Kevin Martin & Jason Thompson.

An NBA team can only provide a maximum $500,000 towards a European buyout so that really wont play a role at all. Half a season of decent basketball by conley wont convince the Grizzlies to pass on Ricky.

That's why I don't believe Rubio is coming this season. He have to pay out of pocket. 6 million Euros. What is that like $9 million for a buyout. He is going to pull a Tiago and wait until that buyout is reasonable.

I totally forgot about Marc Gasol!!!

Mayo, Gay, Conley, Gasol....all they need is a power fwd that can do exactly what Lee does.

Question would you guys take Darko and or Marko in a sign and trade to memphis for David Lee? I tell you right now I would totally trade Lee for Darko....Darko isn't a *****. David has the numbers and such...Darko makes about 4 times as much as Lee does now. I'd take Marko too if they took Jared. Marko is a better point guard than Duhon and opens an opportunity to trade Duhon's expiring.

David Lee would have to except the trade but he may have a change of heart with the young talent Memphis currently has. David Lee actually completes them in memphis.

If we want Rubio, we need him to stay in the draft, but have his agent inform teams that he will only play in NYC.

We need to catch a break for once.

What about sending them Nate instead? He could be cheaper and could put more fannies in the seat than Lee.

I don't think anyone is saying that we will, but it is not inconceivable that we agree to a trade on draft day with a team that will consummate at a later date when they are eligible to be traded.

This is gonna be interesting. Rubio in Memphis won't work for him, nor Ok, or SAC.

He can bluff his way down by saying he won't come. Washington could grab him and that could work for him.

THe further he falls, the lower his pay scale.

Sponsers will dictate what they will pay him which he can used to buy his way out but is he more valuable in a city like NYC?

I see it possible that Griffin goes to LAC, Thabeet to Memphis and OK and Sac cannot take Rubio for what I mentioned. I see we do a deal with 3-4-5 to get Rubio his pay scale. Rubio can't play this in the press just be real cool with the Comish and it gets done. We lose our pick and Chandler.

In fact I can see Minny and even golden state not being good for Rubio's marketing.

Only Washington can be a problem as its the only east coast city.

Just because we covet a player doesn't means that another franchise is ready to deal him.

Rubio is a risk on several levels, not the least of which is his buyout, his recent injury (do you have the patience for comparisons to Danilo Gallinari and his problemmatic back?) and his high expectations that will only be magnified on Broadway.

Sure, the flashy passes would light up the crowd at MSG, but those same flashy passes would play well on Beale Street.

What player do the Knicks have that memphis covets?

David Lee is not enough.

yeah, memphis can take rubio, see how he and conley do, and they can always move conley in another deal if they want.

of course, i hope we can get rubio, but there are also some other teams who might look to move up to get rubio.

If I'm Memphis and I'm sold on Conley and Gasol... I would completely make a deal with someone in the Indiana/Toronto/New York range.

They could take the hometown guy in Evans in one of those spots.

Conley/Evans/OJ would be a nice backcourt with a lot of flexibility.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Just see Kobe when he entered the draft. He wanted LA. End of story. Yes, he got grabbed, but they made the trade. Vlade was good, but lets be serious.

Rubio has even more leverage because he can stay right where he is, playing and making very decent money.

But, does he force his way to NYC?

it doesn't happen because a majority of players don't have any leverage. Rubio does.
