dear tms,
no one is questioning what iverson accomplished on a personal level, an individual level. sadly, basketball, last i checked, is a team sport. and he has accomplished nothing on this level.
he went to the finals with a larry brown team, and this is his greatest achievement.
he has been nothing but a bad, a horrible, example for younger players during his entire career. from his 'practice??' stunt to his partying ways in denver (as evidenced in the billups article on this forum).
he was never a leader, only a selfish little man with a lot of talent and a lot of heart-- all misguided and misused over a great individual career that could have been an exemplary one filled with multiple championships.
with his skills, his talent, and his heart, do you really think he was a great basketball player? he could've dished it with the best of them, set a great example for his teammates, and led his team to crazy heights.
alas, he did none of this. he chucked shots up like no other and struggled to shoot 40% from the field in many seasons.
edit:
a note to the kiddies-- cultivate a winning brain first, then work on your game..or do both at the same time. but your game, no matter how nice, is WORTHLESS without a winning brain.
