I thought this question deserved further investigation, since there is a good chance that he'll be our pick. Maybe this 1 question could determine the degree of our success for years to come. I also think that his offensive comtributions in this system will be more than enough.

If Stephen wants to he can. He's athletic enough and D is all about desire.

He's too small (short and thin) to guard full size 2's on a night to night basis for starter's minutes.

can we stop with the curry is only a 2 statements?

he's probably going to play the 1 in the nba, and has already played pg last year, amongst the leaders in assists in the ncaas.

There's no way he can guard 2s. He's going to have to be a poing guard if he wants to be successful.

he's quick though, and strong for his size. defense is all about who wants it more, and stephen curry definitely wants it more than most guys in the nba

That is really my only concern with him. He should measure out at 6' 2", so he definitely should have the height to play PG, in fact he may grow another inch or so and become a big pg. I am not too concerned about the strength issue. That will come with weight training and age. The ONLY question I have is his lateral quickness to guard a Chris Paul, Westbrook, or Williams. If he can at least be average defensively, he is my choice for the pick. This dude is the best shooter and scorer in the country. In a MDA offense, this dude will light teams up. You develop Curry as the starting PG, with a resigned Nate as the team's 6th man. Once we get our 2 guard and center, this team will be set.

Totally agree dude.

I don't think he's quick enough to be a great defender
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I am sure. I'll tell you why, Allanfan20--

at his size, an individual must be extra-hungry to succeed at the d1 collegiate level, and even hungrier to dominate as Curry has.

he has NBA pedigree, from his father, Dell.

combine these two, the hunger and the genetics, and you've got a hungry defense-man plus a pure shooter to boot.

Why are you talking this defense thing. Not one person on this teams guards anyone including Wilson he got lit up like a xmas tree like every perimeter defender. MDA wants smart players that are skilled and can score

Yes, if he couldn't score we would not be even considering him. Top notch scoring ability is a must, but when the game is on the line, does SC have what it takes to be effective on both ends of the court? And if he does i think he would be a spectacular pick because it seems like the other parts of the game he will be able to develop. This "IF" could mean at the very least 5 wins during the regular season , if he gets the chance. In the postseason it could mean the series as we saw with Mavs vs. Denver this very playoffs.

be fair King, Wilson Chandler is miles better as a defender than D Lee is... he's also our best shotblocker.

His objective was not to be fair in order to make Lee look good.

So the question is can he play adequate d at the point. I don't know the answer, but my guess is he will - if not right away, at least after he's had a season or two to work at it.

He's definitely got some things to work on - lateral reaction on d, ball handling and strength. The good news is, they're all things that can be improved in time. And, as you said, he'll light teams up in this offense.

That isn't close to being true. Chandler and Hughes are very good defensive players. Duhon, Jeffries, Harrington and Q aren't bad.
