Hi all, just wanted to get some input for new features for the forums. Andrew and I are targeting an uplift of the WHOLE site but most of the interaction is in these here parts.

Outside of the obvious (search), what do we need?

Here is what is already in there:
- Bookmarking within the site
- Ignore users
- Topics that YOU have posted in are marked so that they are visible
- Insert a smiley where you put your cursor

The list you created is a solid list, I can't think of much else to put in there.

What would be cool and I'm not sure how feasible it is, would be... would it be at all possible that along the top of the screen, when the Knicks are playing it could give you a score and time left in the period. For me that would be pretty cool since alot of times on weekends I might be out and I'm checking the forum on my phone and it would be cool to have a ticker that updates every 30 seconds or so actually in the forum. I understand that might be a bit too involved, but I figured I'd throw it out there.

Other than that, a ban Bippity button would also be much appreciated.

oh interesting.

I think we are getting the scores to games right now, so we can certainly add. We also have been thinking about adding the scores to the GameThread in real time. The one prob we have, and this would be more relevant to the GameThread thing, is that there may be a 2-5 minute delay versus those watching live.

I don't know if this helps but there are some forums that use applications like ESPN feature that shows the stats and progress of a game underway. Its a box usually on top of the posts. It also shows some stats and links to past news. Don't know if there are other applications like this in other services, probably yes, but this could be an option.

nah....well bookmarking was mentioned. I was thinking along those lines....sometimes I post things and forget i did and when I find the tread later on i'm like.....:

how bout a ban poster button? if a poster gets say 10-15 flags they get an automatic ban...

They got something called Karma points in some forums. You can get +1 or -1, but if you get like -10 you get like a 1 day suspension or something

Each thread/topic that you have posted to is now marked... are you thinking of a list that brings you directly to your posts?

instead of an icon, you should have a picture of Jessica Alba under each person's ID, and have it get larger based on your Alba post count
