I'm thinking 2-3 years down the road --- what player stands next to Gallo as a team leader and face of the franchise.

I'd would think...

Rubio 1
Curry 2
Griffin 3
Flynn 4
Lawson 5 (but I don't like Lawson at all)

rubio because he is a mature, strong-brained point guard who can run the show, dish and swish.

I know that Griffin's height seems to be shrinking every day, but he can never be considered a guard.

I think that the guards you mentioned have leadership ability. Harden, despite the fact that I am not a fan of his athletic ability, is also a leader. I have not seen enough of Maynor to make a comment on him.

Griffin is 6-5 Gallinari is already an all star and team leader and Rubio is the basketball Jesus

Oh yeah and the Knicks will win 30 again next year.

who's to say really? just cuz you're a leader in college doesn't mean you'll be a leader of grown men in the pros... some guys lead by example & don't do a lotta talkin' (Duncan), some guys talk a lotta smack but don't back it up (Q Rich), some guys do both.

if i had to project who has the most potential to be a leader, i'd just guess at names like Griffin, Rubio, Lawson, Hansbrough, Curry, Budinger, Gibson... that don't mean guys like Derozan, Holiday, Jennings, Wall, etc. don't have it in them to become leaders... it's all a crap shoot just like the draft is for the most part.

Rubio is #1. Harden is #2. Curry is #3. Since Rubio and Harden should be gone, then the choice is Curry. I don't care about him not having elite athleticism or not being a true point guard. The dude can play and will light it up in MDA's offense. The dude has more pg skills than Nate, is a very smart player, and one of the best shooters to come out of college in years. This dude might be an even better shooter than his dad and Dell Curry could light it up. Curry seems to be able to play solid defense and he can run a team. I draft this guy easy.

Griffin is 6-5

No need to make the kid shorter than he really is.

Actually, he is between 6'7" and 6'8," and probably a bit closer to 6'8."

There should be some kind of contest for correctly guessing his height and that of Curry.

Evans... he's got to be the pick
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

If you are looking for leadership, then the pick should be Maynor. Even one who thinks it is Rubio didn't watch the Olympics where he had big bouts of immaturity during the games. Very talented but that was his biggest problem as Doug Collins pointed out during his analysts. He's got a lot Jason Williams in him with the highlight passes instead of the simple ones.

I like Maynor, but he has a Francis-esque shot. If he can get rid of that, he's money.

Evans as a leader?

really?

from Draft Express:
"Evans is certainly going to have to improve upon his leadership skills and ability to control the tempo of the game if he hopes to play point guard full time at the next level..."

jw, maybe i'm misreading your responses, but the question is specifically about impact from a leadership perspective, not necessarily who we want most.

you're reading it right

I don't see Flynn being a top half of the league starting PG - thus he can't be a great leader.

There are questions about Maynor's shot, and his ability to setup teammates.

Why is Griffin on the list? I know he's got the height for a guard, but I think he wants to play forward.

Rubio I would love, but unless we get our pingpong ball plucked... not happnin

I can imagine Evans leading by performance if he's the player I think he is, and he's 19. Is he supposed to be a great leader? Rose has leadership issues too. He can't drink legally yet.
