DETROIT -- Voters will elect Detroit's newest mayor in a runoff between incumbent Ken Cockrel Jr. and Basketball Hall of Famer Dave Bing.

Polls open Tuesday at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

The winner will complete the final 7½ months of Kwame Kilpatrick's second term. There's a Aug. 4 nonpartisan primary and Nov. 5 general election for a full, four-year term.

Only 15 to 20 percent of Detroit registered voters are expected at the polls Tuesday.

Cockrel moved up from city council president to the mayor's office after Kilpatrick resigned in September. He finished second to Bing, founder of steel manufacturer The Bing Group, in a February primary.

Detroit? One of the worst cities in our nation?

Being mayor of such a ****hole should be something you hang your head in shame over....not celebrate.

And yes, I have been to Detroit. It is a disaster and when the sun sets it's scary. Sad....perhaps we should stop our billions of aid to other countries and focus on cleaning up ****holes like Detroit and Cleveland not to mention well half of Texas.
