stick with explosive, athletic skill players unless there is a dramatic reason not to.

There sure is one common element about all 3 picks and that is slow movement.

Im not going to sit and bash picking Sweetney other than to say we needed to KNOW we werent getting rid of anyone. If you look at Zach randolph, there are some similarities in body type and obviously we wish we had zach. Im not ready in anyway to give up on Sweetney but . hes got to work harder--work with the knicks work on reducing his weight and gaining strength. i wanted to throw up when he pulled up from 20 feet. I bet he weighs 275 right now--on top of that he has shown no grit no toughness no desire, he looks lost. I mean how do you come out of the BE with those numbers and look so bad? Seattle worked him out and what threw me off him days before the draft was his marks in speed conditioning and strength.

We could use a Ben gordon type player

Bravo sir. I couldn't agree more. Jarvis Hayes would have made sense. Or a trade down. Randolph is much bigger and more coordinated with the ball than Mike. Ben Gordon would be the perfect Knick. A sure-fire NBA contributor right away with athleticism and experience. One guy I would really like to get ahold of is Marcus Haislip from the Bucks.. 6'11, strong, athletic, can run the court...

With Sweetney, I think they saw a potential for him to develop some low post game with his soft hands.. which he has.. it just takes a year and a half to get off his shot... and at the NBA level he cannot bull the same guys over to create space. If he was 6'10 it might be a different story.

All is not lost though. He has to work on his body with some major commitment if he will be counted on to contribute.

From now on when we draft we need to...not have Scott Layden or Don Chaney making our pick (throw Dolan in too for good measure)

i think we are at our quota of europeans as well, unless Yao Ming part 2 comes out--[and the Chinese team has a kid named Li who is 7--0 230 16 years old who will be a lottery pick in 05]

Ben Gordon is perfect--very much a gilbert arenas type clone 6-3 200 45 inch vertical leap, nasty ballhandling and quick as a snake all the skills passing rebounding defending shooting from all angles etc.... I have a feeling he wont go much lower than 5 however--what do you guys think? there are a bunch of skinny 7 footers and we need a C. If we could ever get our hands on Gordon do we trade the rights to vujonic for another draft pick?

WHO'S DOMINATING THE CBA OR THE NBDL LEAGUE?
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I agree with Briggs' thread wholeheartedly. We NEED players with the lethal combo of fire and skill. I have been saying that on this board for SO damn long...

We need players that are also strong willed and strong minded. Floor leaders, emotional leaders, locker room leaders. It helps to have guys who will tell it like it is.

Hopefully one day we will also have management that appreciates these types of players, and are willing to acknowledge their input. Unfortunately, right now we have a front office that is too encroached in enforcing a tight-assed corporate structure to want anything but "yes" men around the office or the court.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!
