but billups is carrying him out there. melo's a really good player, but he's not an alpha dog yet. i think he's another one of those guys that needs a coach to get him over the hump. a coach to challenge him. but when you canvas the league and it's history, if your best player is an SF, then he needs to be very versatile (in the lebron/pippen mode) where he can start up top and take you off the dribble to score or dish...and melo isn't that type of player. he can score like a mofo tho but i don't know if he can carry a team. he might be another super robin like bosh.

I agree!!!

I don't think the kid takes the game seriously. He hasn't improved since college if you ask me. He hasn't taken his game to the next level. I'd love to see him attack the game as hard as he tries to look good doing it.

They're winning...fall back. Billips is the cat with more playoff experience and Melo is deferring to him right now. Shows maturity.

I dunno- I've seen Melo take over at the end of games. I think Billups is more of a leader but I think Melo is a lead dog. Dude could lead the league in scoring legitimately.

If the Nuggets were losing, Melo would be getting hammered. Cant have it both ways.

I'm with you. How can you fault Melo for being outperformed by Billups. Billups is one of the best playoff and big game performers of our time. Arguably the best player on the Detroit Championship team. Carmelo still went for 22 points and 9 assists last night. What else is he supposed to do?

Carmelo is a great player in my view. He's immature but he's also 24 years old and has 3 or 4 more years before he hits his athletic prime. If you use Lebron and Kobe and Wade as a benchmark then yes he falls short. But when you take away these NBA anomolies he's pretty darn good. I would of course prefer Lebron on my team. I would of course hope that Melo matures as he ages(most of us do), but if he came to NY I would be celebrating in the streets. That's your star right there. He would be tougher to buidl around, but you can win with him.
I just hope that people will like me

Melo may not be in the LBJ mold (wasn't Pippen a Robin?) but he very well could be in the Bernard King mold. The dude can take over and I really, really wish the Knicks could've landed him when he was reportedly on the market

Yep. Melo carried then to a 2 seed, now Chaunce, the playoff veteran, is leading them in the post season which is a completely different animal. Melo is playing the good student.

Melo is a G. Would kill to have him in orange in blue. He's not Lebron, or perhaps even Wade, but who is? Looks like the ship has sailed on Melo being traded now.

Dumars must cry his ass to sleep every night over the 03 draft. Wade and Bosh were reaches --- But Melo was the easy pick.

You know what's funny....the Hornets are going to win both games in NO and come back and snatch game 5.
Billups will not keep up his scoring rampage.

Darko is only 24. It is very likely that he will come back and have an All-Star career.

Well, I mean, he's young. And he can block shots. If he was in the right system, the right coach, he would excel. 24 is a very young age. He has averaged a near double-double in the league, do you really think he's not capable of being an All-Star? Jamal Magloire made his first all-star team when he was 28, right?

Its safe to say Darko will never be an all star.
