And would prob come here for the full MLE. He would add 10-15 wins to this current team

Add 10-15 wins?? Thats pretty optimistic. Maybe him along with a good young prospect with the pick will do that...

Artest would be an upgrade, for sure, but 5-8 win improvement would be optimistic. He's help the perimeter defense dilemma, but the interior defense would still be weak. Then, he's a GF... like every other Isiah holdover. He also isn't a go to scorer. So, he would definitely help, but there are so many holes on this team that I can't honestly say his presence alone vaults the Knicks to 41+ win territory.

If Walsh would deal with Artest, this could be a good thing. His perimeter defense would be a great asset. As far as I can tell, his head is in the game... I guess the question is if both Kidd and Artest offered to take the MLE, which player do you sign?

I've always been a fan of Artest's game. He's a perfect example of a good (not superstar) 2 way player that every team needs that wants to compete deep in the playoffs.

if Artest would be open to signing a MLE i'm all for it... put Chandler at the 2, w/Artest at the 3 & try to move up to draft a bigman who can block some shots like Thabeet or Hill & our defense would be improved dramatically... but right now i want Derozan so bad i hope we just stand pat & he somehow slips down to us where we're picking.

Walsh is not going to bring Artest here after what happened in Detroit. At the high level Artest was playing at for the Pacers Walsh still traded Artest for basically nothing. Not only that, I think Artest has probably found a home in Houston. Regardless of what people think, Artest is not going to be playing on any team for the full MLE. Artest has been getting underpaid for his career. This time around he is looking for a real contract.

we cant guard ANYONE. Post, perimeter, anyone. We have bigs, smalls and sometimes coaches dropping 50 a game on us. Artest is a guy you can stick on anyone bigger than Nate Robinson and smaller than Dwight Howard. He's also a great all around player. Aside from being one of the best defensive players in the game he's a good shooter, good slasher, excellent passer, he gets tough rebounds and he's a winner.

You take all the minutes Q, JJ and Tim Thomas played give them to Artest and yea, we win 10 more games. Easy.

Most of our games were lost late, and we could never, ever stop the opposing team's leading scorer from going off on us.

A 5 year MLE would be a steal

Yep. A big Briggs "trust me" on that one.

Yeah, maybe if we had Lebron and KG with Bosh off the bench, then I'd say we don't need a forward.

Wilson Chandler is nice, but he's not the type of player that makes you say "Hey, we don't need anymore fowards, lets pass up on Artest." Doesn't mean Artest can't slide to the 2 guard or the 4, especially if he's becoming a good shotblocker and a much better shooter.

You would have to try and draft Thabeet though.

Artest is really having a good "contract year"!

Walsh knows this guy very well. I'd trust his decision if he bought him in.

The guy is awesome period. He is always in the playoffs and always takes the guys best player. You subtract tmac and add artest the team got better. He made sactown a more complete team, and was great in indy. Granted he melts down and loses games every now and again but the Knicks are a bunch of soft pussies that play zero defense. I would loved to see harrington moved in the offseason and insert artest next to chandler and lee.
