Team officials said they hoped to see a different Curry in training camp. Donnie Walsh, the team president, said on Thursday that Curry had committed to a comprehensive off-season program with a Detroit-based trainer. Walsh said the proposal came from Curry and his agent, Leon Rose.

“This has been an extremely frustrating, disappointing and tumultuous season for Eddy, both on and off the court,” Rose said in a text message. “I know he is eager and determined to do everything in his power to prepare himself to come back and be a serious contributor to the Knicks next season.”

The Knicks closed a 32-50 season on Wednesday, leaving Walsh and Coach Mike D’Antoni to begin their off-season review. Curry was one of the first players to meet with them Thursday, and he apparently said all the right things.

But the Knicks have heard these promises before.

“We’ve talked 10 times during the year, so it’s like, ‘You know what you have to do, you know what we want.’ Now it’s up to him to do it,” D’Antoni said. “We’ll be here for him every day. But he’s got to do the steps. It’s all set up for him. We’ll see if he can do it.”

Asked whether he believed Curry would follow through, D’Antoni was glib.

“I’m not going to take a second mortgage out on my home about it,” he said, adding, “I think he will, because he wants to.”

Even if Curry gets in the best shape of his life (which I highly doubt), he's not even going to be good.

i disagree. that guy gets "in the best shape of his life" and i'd love to see how mda would utilize him.

You can't fully disagree. We're talking about Curry here, comon.

look i know as well as anyone that curry is a giant pus-filled wart. nevertheless, that motherf***er jacked up and in prime shape (your words, man - "in the best shape of his life") - pushing his weight around under the basket, making room for set-ups, getting inside passed from david lee, grabbing put-backs, etc., i think could be extremely effective under mda.

I'm sorry but I've heard this about Curry way too many times, and I'm not buying it.

The chances of Curry being good at this point in his career are pretty slim, you can't argue with that because Curry himself has shown it.

i am arguing. you can't preface a statement with "if curry gets in the best shape of his life" and then not expect people to respond to that premise. i don’t;' think there's much of a chance that he'll get in the best shape of his career, but if he did, i think he’d be very effective. just a couple of seasons ago he still managed 19 and 7 on a high shooting % while still being a fat f**k and playing under a POS coach. He wasn’t great but he was effective.

If he was in very good shape, he'd be a scoring monster. His rebounding and shot blocking would be less bad, but still not very good. Nothing will help his passing.

The guy's a joke and the sooner we can cut ties with him the better. Every year it's, "well, if Eddy comes in in great shape...". Horse****. Enough already. I want no part of this guy anymore. I would give him away for NOTHING right now if there was a team out there that was willing to take his contract....

If eddy can be effective to trade for expiring, then get his ass moving!

Its better for him and us.

The thing is that it's about shape, yes, but it's also about effort on the court. I'm still reminded of Scott Skiles' fantastic quote when asked what Curry can do to become a better rebounder - "Jump".
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Curry's as good as gone if he comes back next year & shows he can contribute... they're not gonna hold onto that contract & he doesn't fit 1 iota into Donnie & MDA's longterm vision for this franchise... trust me, Curry's only motivation for next year is to show other teams he can still play, cuz the Knicks are gonna dump him at the soonest opportunity.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

TMS sums it up, to me.

I even read that on Eddy Curry's Twitter page it had said, "Location: New York (for now!)

Eddy has to know this too.

The point of him improving is to show he can still play, up his value, and then we are likely to be able to move him that much easier.

What we need to do is sign Josh Powell from the Lakers this offseason and/or trade for Joel Pryzbilla

Curry just needs to juice. They dont test for it in the NBA. Get him riding the needle and jack him full of the same diet pills he was sucking down when he got skinny in his last contract year. Then after a month of running and dunking trade him to the Mavs

I think if he was in a good shape, he'd still have issues with being an extremely low IQ player.

That being said, he'd have a role in ths league because of his physical size and would definitely be an asset on some level.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.
