like Lamar Sean marion nash how about splitting it up over 1/2 for players like
C. J Watson and Marcin Gortat? Both are young unrestricted and kind of under rated role players but have very efficient games that should thrive in a faster tempo scenario

If you look at what each one brings--Gortat has the intangibles of a 7 footer size ability to block some shots excellent finisher/rebounder only 24 years old

CJ Watson really reminds me of Mo Williams. Excellent shooter passer rebounder DEFENDER from the 1 guard
who can be our new 6th man and has the skill and ability to step in and start.

Both guys young--both guys can move CJ Watson shot over 40% from 3 points range and 46% from the field

Both of these players haev a great chance to be bLOWN up in faster pace games. It might be a better route long term than an older player--although like I mentioned there are exceptions to good to pass on.

If you are looking split MLE

4 years 10mm for both players--cheap in this league like a mid round pick after two years and very movable type contracts.

I don't know about loading up on D league players--Id rather spend a bit more to get much more proven players who I really believe could play nice roles here and play their numbers up--there by really helping the team.

We cannot be afraid to spend an MLE--I would rather have Gortat and Watson than just Nate by himself.

they have no restrictions both are athletic and know how to play the game.

yea, but.

I think one problem with this team is we have no superstar, but plenty of supporting cast guys.

We never have the best five on the court. But our bench is always better than the other teams.

Our roster is a bit like this:

Is that a Church cracker? I don't know what that is. Is that a sponge? But I understand what you're saying. CJ Watson is fine and all, but we need someone big time! If a point guard like Kidd or Nash fall through the MLE gap, then we snatch them!
WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

Im going to assume we are going to get some kind of star player in the next 2-3 years via FA. All of our *role* players are set to expire--guys like Q Hughes etc.. that we will not re-up.
Rebuilding the team with parts that every team needs 6th man-- a couple of 7 footers on the cheap makes a ton of sense. Were used to paying guys 6-12mm to be a role player. I think that both of these guys especially watson has a chance to be more than just a role player. We need size desperately--all great teams have 2-3 guys over 6-10. I think one problem with our team is we dont really have a balanced unit. Each guy brings defense and rebounding from their positions--guys who know how to play basketball with good charatcer athletic young etc..

I think it's gum, ya know, like our roster is like gum that's been stepped on and dried out in the sun. That's very deep if you stop to think about it.

Well I'm absolutely all for signing guys mad cheap like a Hunter, or the other center we just signed. Right there for 82 games those guys could be a nice platoon. As far as using the mid-level....I like the idea of splitting it for guys like cj miles....I mean the Knicks are a lottery team....no mater how we feel about certain players they are still a huge part in the failure that's been going on as long as they been around.

So I would lok to trade everyone....bunch up guys to try and pry away a antwan jaimison or a vince....or whoever I'm just throwing names around. The Knicks priority must be to move the expirings to get better players. Maybe a hughes and filler for t-mac. The Knicks could do that twice and easily sign anybody they want in 2010 still. They have countless chips to play with. Getting a cj watson would be so easy to do tagging him with another guy for part of the mid-level.

Knicks have to be pro-active this off-season not sit with their pants around their ankles. They have plenty of toilet paper.

While he's probably looking for D Lee type money, Ben Gordon would fit nicely on an MDA team and also make N8 expendable. A little short for a SG, but he can get very hot in the 4th quarter, something we could use alot more of IMHO.

Looks like some kind of cheese. I think that I've seen swiss cheese that had a lot of small holes, but never as many as this one.

Could it be mozzarella? I've seen some fresh mozzerella that looks a little like that

It doesn't look like Orlando can afford to sign Gortat as well. He would be a very interesting player to bring for his defense. I expect that Gortat would be able to get the full MLE though this off season. Defensive post players are in great demand. If they do decide to keep Gortat, the Knicks should inquire about the draft rights for Vazquez. It looks like he wants to come to the NBA this season but I think he has a killer buyout.

God help us if Gortat turns into Big Snacks...

Could you imagine the pain of suffering thru another 4-5 year horrendous deal on a big.

Better yet -- what if he is a John Koncack or a Tim McCullough?

Are we sure this big dude can play -- I know he looks athletic but damn what if he's just a big euro scab.

2.5mm over 3 or 4 years is fair money. Id bet you it would really help the KNicks.

why waste longterm money on sub par role players for? if you can't nab a steal w/the MLE, then u hold off & don't use it... simple... just play the young guys, nab a few scrubs out of the D Leagues if u have to to round out the roster... we have plenty of guys left on the payroll for next season to field a rotation already... all u would possibly be losing are D Lee & Nate that are regular minutes guys in the rotation, & one would have to assume Donnie would be replacing those guys w/someone else in a trade of some sort rather than losing them for nothing in return... if he lets that happen he's a moron of epic proportions.

If Donnie lets Lee and Nate go it wouldn't bother me at all. Nothing bothers me any more about the Knicks anymore. Its just a destination where players come and go. Lee isn't great and neither is Nate its not like they can't be replaced. These type of players come and go all the time.

i can't be as forgiving as u bro... Lee & Nate are 2 of our better trade assets, & if he doesn't use them to at least improve this team over the long haul then he's not doing his job as a GM.

I am with both of you as far as mle. I wouldn't sign anyone beyond 2 years with a team option on the third.

And as far as losing Lee and Nate- agree here as well- clearly if Walsh can get value for them, great. But if they walk, I don't think its the end of the world- we're sucking either way next year.
