Syracuse point guard Jonny Flynn will sign with an agent, a newspaper reported Monday.

Flynn, a 6-foot sophomore, said last week that he planned to enter his name in the NBA draft but had not yet hired an agent. However, The Post-Standard in Syracuse reported Flynn is expected to sign with Leon Rose, the agent for NBA star LeBron James.

Attempts to reach Flynn, his family and Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim were unsuccessful.

Flynn averaged 17.4 points and 6.7 assists per game as a sophomore. He set a school record by playing 1,418 minutes in the just-concluded season.

If he does not sign with an agent, Flynn would retain the ability to remove his name from the draft by June 15.

Syracuse juniors Eric Devendorf and Paul Harris previously had said they will also enter the draft.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I have to say that I really do like Johnny Flynn's explosiveness and leadership qualities....just wish he were a few inches taller.

I don't think Flynn is more than an inch or two taller than Nate. I like him a lot, but his size will always be an issue. Still I wouldn't argue with his heart or athleticism. He is a really good player.

Now Boeheim says that Flynn is "up in the air" about staying in the draft.

I saw that I my first thought was that Boeheim is trying to talk him out of leaving this year. Maybe smart to stay another year unless he gets a promise from the Knicks this year.

Rather than start a new post re: Flynn, I'll ask here:

I love the idea of picking up Flynn in the draft, but don't know that he is worth the 8th pick. What options to the Knicks have to either trade their pick down or use assets not including the 8th pick to acquire a spot lower in the draft to acquire Flynn?

Ideas? Proposals?

All kinds of options...almost too many to list but NONE are certain to happen.

Pick up pick...

- via a trade of anyone on the roster outside of Lee and Nate (can't be moved until July 1st - after the draft)
- buy a pick
- trade our pick for 2 lower picks
- package our pick with say Mobley's deal to move up

If he's unlikely to be a top ten pick, then he's going back to 'Cuse. He's just testing the waters right now.

Now its official. I also heard that Boeheim and Paul Harris aren't speaking and that he feels like he's being pushed out the door at Syracuse. Boeheim must love this new guard that he's got coming in.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) -Syracuse sophomore point guard Jonny Flynn has signed with an agent, officially ending his college basketball career.

In a video interview posted Thursday on Syracuse.com, Flynn says leaving Syracuse early to enter the NBA draft was the hardest decision of his life.

Flynn says he signed with Leon Rose's Creative Artists Agency Sports. The NBA draft will be held June 25.

Flynn's teammates Paul Harris and Eric Devendorf also are planning to declare for the NBA draft, but have not said whether they will hire agents. Underclassmen have until April 26 to declare for the NBA draft. Athletes have until June 15 to withdraw, if they do not hire an agent.
