![]() I can still shred a bit... every now and then the kids in the hood are amazed by the old man that can ollie curbs and rip off 8 foot powerslides down the hill.
Billy Ruff was one of my first... Vision Ghost was great... I liked the basic design of P&P's later Tony Hawk's Mouse and Lance Mountain's future primitive... finally my perfect formula was the naked wood decks blockhead put out like this one: They were smaller and skinny and light. I liked the tracker trucks, german bearings and hard (95 or 98 hardness) freestyle wheels so I could slide. PS I met Tony Hawk in NYC when he and the rest of the P&P team were filming the Future Primitive series "winning is more fun... then fun is fun" -Thibs

![]() Eny, remind us of the surgeries you had? Your age? YOur weight? How old is your son? My kid boarded for years but I never ever was invited to hang with him. I think "Pops" on a board would be very uncool. Its a very rebelious type "cred" and it don't include "father and son" moments. Just my opinion. Also lot of stories of parents getting messed up on them. Its a very nice thing your thinking of. |

![]() Posted by Nalod: lmao!!! crushing my dreams man!!! Well I'm 29...I've had acl surgery on my left knee and just had umbilical hernia surgery about 7 weeks ago, lol....5'10" I'm 205lbs...my social security number is.... ![]() My Son is 5 years old...kid is too young to be thinking about his dad as a dork. Right now he thinks I'm the coolest guy ever. Why not enjoy these times? when he's in junior high school he'll already have control of a skateboard and we'll have memories that will last a lifetime. besides, all of the greatest skateboarders that ever lived are either my age or 5 years older....The generation gap is not as huge as it was back in the days. I play video games with my son, we listen to all types of music together....we freestyle rap and beatbox together!!!! no lie. So I think this skateboarding experience will be a good one. ![]() Everybody skates here on campus. Obviously, with it being SDSU and all, skating is woven into the fabric of So Cal life, plus its a very efficient way to get around. Cant mess with one of those things personally. There are a lot of hills and inclines on campus. Fall down, and its a wrap. Cant have that.
My saliva and spit can split thread into fiber and bits/ So trust me I'm as live as it gets.

![]() 5 years old, of course you are his hero. For now.
He might not have the patience quite yet to work at it so don't be disappointed if he takes it up and then does not stick with it. Skate board for little dudes is not easy. My son started on blades at about 7. Lived in them. Played Hockey in them, then started jumping. Thats when he moved to the board. He picked it up easy after that. As far as you starting to board at 29: My prayers are with you. |

![]() Ok rebel? Against who? Parents? If I shouldn't skate with my son...then I should just stop spending time with him all together.
This aint 1970....I grew up to video games, rap, rock, soul, r&b and reggae....my son is growing up enjoying the same things. Back in the day fathers played catch with their sons, fixing cars, model airplanes, going to baseball games. Today we take the kids out back and shoot hoops. We skateboard, beatbox, freestyle, draw, write, play music, play video games, watch cartoons, play tag, etc....at least I try to when I'm with him. Some dads don't even do anything if they are even in their kids lives at all. Subscribe to my Podcast https://youtube.com/c/DiehardknicksPodcast

![]() Posted by Nalod: LMAO... I'm 25 and won't get back on the damned thing. Pain lingers and I try to avoid falling on my face these days... my old rugby teammates played pick up a month back and then I re-retired after needing 600 mg of Ibuprofen every 4 hours to keep my knee pain manageable. When I played in my teens and early 20s, I sustained much, much worse and would always hit the gym immediately after practice/playing DLeethal wrote:

![]() Posted by EnySpree: As a former skater, I think it's awesome you're encouraging his interest by participation. I learned a lot about becoming a man from the sport... you learn to pick your ass up, not be afraid of failure, just to learn to fail better as the Japanese proverb goes (the one on the DWade commercial): fall seven times, get up eight DLeethal wrote:
