I was reading this article from the UK front page
http://www.theknicksblog.com/2009/04/09/nash-can-no-longer-defend/

The first comment on the article says:"i wouldn’t mind nash, but i prefer rasheed wallace."

I hadn't realized Sheed was becoming a free agent this year. I'm a fan of his game -- his shooting range and touch which allows for great offensive spacing, his defense in the post and around the hoop. He's about Nash's age. He seems like a D'Antoni type of center to me, though I haven't seen him play much the last couple of years. What say you, UK?

Eh, I don't like his attitude or character. I don't think he would be a good addition to this team. We are young and impressionable. Nash is a leader and a good influence, so if you're choosing old guys to solidify your squad, Nash is the way to go, IMO.

Sheed's old, a knucklehead (doesn't he lead the league in T's and actually got suspended for hitting #16?) and tends to camp out on the perimeter too often but he'd be a good stop-gap at center. He still has some in the tank.

Though if we need a vet, I'd rather Nash or Kidd.

1 year deal, I would sign 'Sheed in a second. The dude knows clutch situations and can handle guys like Howard without a double team.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Sheed for a 1 year deal would be very nice. He would bring a veteran presence to the locker room, even if he is a bit nuts. The guy demands respect and he wants to win. I don't think he'd sign here though. He'll probably end up on the Spurs or something.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Good point. He and Timmy would be a great combo.

Sheed is a rebel kinda guy so I dunno if he'd follow the trend of latching on to a contender....maybe if he was gonna definately start and team up with a group of guys he vibes with.

We'll see....coming to NY isn't out of the question. If Donnie and D'antoni can make some power moves for some big time talent then Sheed would come over. Its way obvious that Sheed is a D'antoni type center...perfect fit.

i would welcome his shotblocking ability & his perimeter shooting would fit in well w/this system, but he's no longer a guy that can really run the floor... still on a 1 year deal why not... next year since we have no lottery pick it doesn't make a difference if we tank or not, so mine as well try to compete as long as u'r not taking on any longterm salary.

Sure, TMS, your points are all true, I think, but Sheed's character cannot be ignored. Character is a huge, HUGE trait (or ability, or whatever), that seperates the winners and the losers. See Steph, AI.

i wonder if Lamar Odom or Jason Kidd would sign a 1 year deal at increased dollars? i wouldn't mind something like that either... i'm just very weary of taking on salary that extends beyond next season.

IMO, if the Lakers win, Odom's going nowhere.

Rasheed can't help the Knicks. He is having trouble helping the Pistons these days. Put him on the Knicks and your right back to where you were before. 30 something wins.
