An article from the Dallas Morning News suggests the Mavericks let the Hornets know that they would be willing to take back two of their worse contracts in a package for Chris Paul. Tim MacMahon, the reporter who wrote the piece, also suggests the Mavericks will approach the Hornets this summer with a similar offer.

Mark Cuban has repeatedly said the Mavs will be "opportunistic" in the trade market and are willing to take on salary if the right situation presents itself.

"I want to win," Cuban said Wednesday night when asked about his willingness to take on significant salaries under the right circumstances. "If I think it puts us over the top, hell yeah. I'll just go get another job at Dairy Queen."

From the way that piece sounds, it seems that the Dallas Morning News is trying to get their 'NY Post' on and create a rumor.

But anyway, who wouldnt take on a couple of bad contracts for Paul?? He's a HOF talent who hasnt even reached his prime. N.O isnt even that good, and he had them deep in the playoffs last year.

If there is even a hint that Paul is legitimately available, all hell is going to break loose.

this is smart strategic move by cuban. he probably knows paul is not available but he will have over 1/2 the league call him offering top talent for salary dumps. now he just has to sit back and take their calls. the guy is smart.

Eh...I dunno. I thought that GM's were supposed to investigate trade options regardless. Isnt that their job? Dont need some grandstanding, splashy headline to accomplish that I dont think.

who in the hell wouldn't be willing to take back bad contracts to get a guy like CP3? that's 1 guy i'd forego the 2010 plan for in a heartbeat... Dwight Howard is another.

Cuban and the Mavs got blown out of the water with the Kidd trade. The Mavs are openly desperate. They won't get Paul but they might get taken again by some other team if they are not careful.

The Knicks will be hamstrung this summer. You would hope that they would utilize the MLE IF there becomes a player like a Nash or Odom who is FORCED to take it because the money is not there.

The strategy of stripping the roster bare and hoping that two top notch free agents come here with nothing else is shaky.

When you look back and see the what ifs --with who was available and what we actually have---wow what a F train wreck/

Im just getting myself prepared to pick an obscure 7-1 player from Slovenia and signing Ryan Toolson as a free agent.

I think you should prepare yourself to pick an obscure small forward as that has been the trend for the last five years. If that doesn't happen be prepared for a trade for a small forward that involves one of the Knicks only legitimate big men on draft night.

he is installing hope to his fan base hoping the ploy will aid season ticket renewals.

Some teams are going to get hurt next season. Cube got lots of money.

So does Dolan.

Paul - Posey - West for Duhon - Al - Wilson would save the Hornets about a bagillion dollars and is better than what Dallas can offer.

This story has no legs.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

and then they might as well close down the franchise because there isna't a single fan that would still support the team.

Quick Picks: Eva Longoria groped by fat Hornets fan

OK, so the title's a bit of a stretch. So what? Is it out of bounds to use a player's wife -- who just happens to be a fashion icon and star of the small screen -- in your free-throw taunting?

We're going to have to say negative on that, taunting is a creative sport and creativity must not be stifled. Also, the picture reminds us that Tony Parker gets to go home to Eva no matter if he makes the shot or not. So, we say taunt away.

We're not sure if that's her body on the cardboard cut-out, or just her face pasted on. Either way, she we know that she looks smokin' hot in athletic wear. The real question is: can Eva sue this Hornets fan for using her no doubt copyrighted image to hurt her husband's career potential? Sounds like a case for Judge Judy.

That's not how you somebody. This is how you taunt somebody. You wave that picture and scream wife beater. Or as one Boston fan did, wear a tank top t-shirt and wave the picture, while throwing french fries. That's taunting. They just took it too far when they went after the kid's head size.
