(Handout photo) Marvin Webster, nicknamed the "Human Eraser" during a record-setting basketball career at Morgan State, died on Saturday in a Tulsa, Okla., hotel from what were believed to be natural causest. Webster, who died nine days short of his 57th birthday, played 10 years of professional basketball, nine in the NBA and one with the ABA's Denver Nuggets. Tulsa police said Webster had been staying at the Ambassador Hotel in downtown Tulsa and had developed a relationship with some staff. When he did not answer his door on Saturday morning, maintenance personnel opened the room and Webster was found dead in his bathtub. The cause of Webster's death is unknown pending autopsy results, said Cherokee Ballard, a spokesman for the Tulsa medical examiner's office. She said the body was released yesterday to family members but could not comment further. "There were no obvious injuries," police officer Jason Willingham said today. "It appears to be of natural causes. That has yet to be determined." A product of Edmondson High, the 7-foot-1 Webster holds Morgan records for blocked shots (722), rebounds (2,267), points (1,990) and games started (110). He played with the Denver Nuggets, Seattle SuperSonics, New York Knicks and Milwaukee Bucks between 1976 and 1987. His death was first reported on The New York Times' Web site.
