Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Tivo or DVR the damm thing.

Better to skip the commercials anyway.

Get one for HER birthday if you don't have it.

You would actually put something on hold to watch the NFL draft? I'm a huge NFL and College Football fan but would never cut something out of my day to watch the NFL draft - it's that boring.

I've actually gone to the draft before. Its much better on TV.

DVR for eight hours would be tough. I have the Giants' superbowl and Joe Torre's last press conference taking up a lot of space already.

I bartended at a resort for a summer, a temp thing until grad school started... any who, I worked the pool bar but figured out the timing and left my bar for the lobby bar for each Giants' pick. I got "yelled at" but we were made them a ton of money that summer and my bosses looked more than good.

I'm assuming you're going out? The girlfriend situation can be tricky though... if she's the type that expects her birthday to be "her day" she's probably more trouble than she's worth, but you still get your draft fix. If she's chill, just let her know you want to see the first round selection, and figure out when you can strategically get to a TV for the rest. Usually the commentators discuss the previous selection when the next team selects. If she's not chill, do the same thing, just don't tell her you're doing that.

The other option is to have alerts sent to your phone if you have a good one (my phone is whatever I get for free). Just make sure (1) the phone is on vibe and (2) you don't check the updates in front of her.

as JW said, nothing beats Chinese food/buffalo wings/massive hangover and the NFL draft.

I love the NFL draft. Absolutely love it. Mostly because the night before is typically one of the craziest nights out, simply because there is hangover entertainment available

What is the night before? Sorry, not enough coffee for me today and I'm sleepwalking through the day.

Oh nothing specific... I just mean I get AllanFan'ed and don't have to worry about being productive, because I know I have 17 hours of NFL discussion available on my couch the next day. So, I meant, I choose to be incredibly irresponsible every year the night before the draft

Oh, I got ya SC. I enjoy watching the Giants/Jets picks in the 1st round but other than that I just can't get into it and this is coming from a huge college football and nfl fan.

I do like listening to Kiper though, dude is insane.

no brainer - take your girl out. its not like she's a wknd ho - you got 2 yrs invested - you gotta show her more respect than that....unless, of course, you WANT her to breakup w you....then f'it and watch the draft.
