IDK, looks flat footed to me, does not get there on transition defense even once. What's he gonna do for us, we jack up threes and increase the odds of fast break from the oppposing teams.

Oh well. Missed Free throws and too many offensive rebounds killed us. We just didnt play tight and this was a game where we missed Jerome Dyson.

I have to wonder if a team is starting to seriously look at Stanley Robinson as a Shawn Marion type 4. He's a pogo stock and a great rebounder/solid defender

Thabeet played OK--he was actually better on the offense that defense today. I don't think he hurt or helped his stock--I think through the 5 games he was neutral.

dude, thabeet's defense sucks, and he's too thin for his size, and he has no dominating offensive game.

Thatbeet was absolutely ATROCIOUS in this game and Michigan State plays as close to a pro style defense as you'll see in college hoops. ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS!!!

Thabeet was kind of terrible tonight. He doesn't box out, is brutal offensively and doesn't really have a ton of court awareness. He still needs a lot of work. He has his moments and you can't teach his size/athleticsm, but you better have a good big man coach if you're gonna take him.

I have stated this since last year: I only want Thabeet if he is a mid-round pick. That's it.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

I wouldve have liked to have seen 15 rebounds and 6 blocks. He did some nice things at times on offense and 17-6-2 is not horrible but he didnt bring the presence that he normally brings which did not help. I think the big thing besides the offensive glass was missed free throws. Missing Free throws is worse than a turnover when playing against a team with depth where FT is never a factor. 3-4 times I thought we could grab control of that game and a combination of missed free throws poor PG jusgement and offensive rebounding killed us. You hate to lose that way. We had it down to 74-71 where I thought we should drop back to halfcourt D and we didnt and that was it.
I think that if any team was going to beat NC it wouldve been Uconn--I dont see Michigan State beating NC--that can hit three's which spaces the floor. When you can space the floor then your bigs can be more effective and you open up driving lanes. When we lost Dyson--we lost our three point shooter and AJ was forced to play a combination role of 2 guard and point because no one else can shoot it.

Thabeet was invisible out there. No post moves, 6 rebounds when you are 7'3" in a MUST win game sucks, and 2 blocks also sucks. Mich State had some great blocks too.

Robinson had a good game.

Thabeet was invisible because they kept on canning mid range J's.

The best shot blocker in the game doesn't matter when you're shooting like that.

UConn's offense was terrible though. They should have run some motion, or just spread the floor and let AJ or Walker go one on one.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I also thought UCONN had the personnel to beat UNC probably the only team that had a legit shot. But Thabeet was a huge disappointment, didnt even seem to hold his position well, for kid that size that's hard not to do. The other UCONN guy had more blocks than he di so it wasnt for a lack of opportunity.

Robinson was promised the starting 4 position next year and just said he will be back. That will be interesting next year--I think he has a chance to develop into a really nice player.

He has seemingly "done his best" to push himself out of the 2-7 range in a weak draft into the middle, and possibly later, region. He would be better served being picked by a team with no immediate need for him to produce- a team that is already winning that can wait the 2-3 years this kid will need to develop. He would be better off being on a team like the Celtics, where he would be a luxury they could take a chance on to develop, than a franchise which would really depend on him for their future success.

Despite this warning, I expect he will go somewhere between 2-10 because some GM will be enamored by his height and not look at the total package and how much fundamental development he really needs.

I actually think he would be better off staying in school...but the allure of the NBA and the $$$ is too much to pass up. He definitely needs time to develop.

I think Calhoun made a mistake yesterday. He was so focused on getting the ball inside that we completely abandoned our usual game. We didn't run. We relied on Adrien and Thabeet to make post moves instead of having Price and Walker apply pressure on the D and allow the big guys to crash the boards. It seemed like Calhoun wanted to go toe to toe with Michigan state on the inside with the hope that we would dominate them. I think if you had Emeka instead of Thabeet the strategy works. But with little inside offensive game from Thabeet we played right into Michigan States hands. First time in a while I've seen Calhoun adjust his offense instead of sticking with what he does best. This took Walker and Price completely out of offensive rhythm and they forced shots trying to get their offense.
