I agree that the draft looks weak after 14 or so--but you can find two really really good players up top. Get me Evans and Derozan up top and buy a pick and take Mullens below.

That would give us
F Gallo 6-10 240
F/GChandler 6-8 225
/FDerozan 6-7 220
PG/Evans 6-5 220
C/Mullens 7-1 275
Keep David Lee 6-9 240

and probably sign and trade Nate
as our young base core--we wouldnt need to draft for another 3-4 years. I say use future assets[i know we dont have one next year but we can dangle 2012 with low protection a couple of second rounders and cash--maybe take on some salary next year etc...

Thats adding a PG a C and the athlketic ability from the wing we dont really have. We could be really good really quick--I say go for it in this draft if other teams want out.

Some NBA executives think lottery teams, including the Knicks, will look to trade down or deal for a 2010 selection if their "need" guy is not there due to the lack of overall quality beyond Blake Griffin.

The Knicks' 2010 first round pick will go to the Jazz as the final compensation for the Stephon Marbury trade.

seriously, i can name at least 10 guys that would in my mind qualify as "need players" for us in this draft, & there's probably more that could really make an impact... i don't see how Donnie can trade away this pick unless it was to bring in an already established NBA player.

our "Need" players:

Griffin
Derozan
Rubio
Hill
Jennings
Evans
Thabeet
Warren
Harden
Mullens

Walsh probably thinks Avid Lee fills a need...of playing no D.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

We are not in a position to turn the Knicks into New York Knicks University, with a bunch of young players and glorified college players on the roster. We should have done that in '02, its too late now.

That is, if we want to be players in the 2010 free agent class and not go into 5 year rebuild mode. Donnie needs to be more creative and land us an impact player this offseason. We have the assets to get it done.

I think building the team via youth and restricted salary players while we wait for contracts to unload is the only path we can take. If that is the case I would like to expedite the process IF possible.

there are definitely 10 "need" guys there in theory, but there are a lot of them who are still question marks as far as coming out or not

I'll still be shocked if its not a deep draft in the end because players on the fence should logically come out due to the CBA issues coming up
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

The possibility of Ed Davis going into the draft is very interesting. He's going to make one of the guys who you thought were locks fall to our slot.
