Multiple teams hold tie breakers over us. The odds of us getting the 8th seed are probably 1mm to 1
That being said--while we have done a great job of losing with our main guys--they still have the firepower to get 4 or 5 of 9 games down the stretch--especially if we play teams who go into tank mode.
I think with anything in life you have to know when to hold em and when to fold em. Time to get the two 10 day contract players PT along with Curry[more than 2 minutes] try to get Jefferies 35 minutes to see if he can put on some numbers that might attract some other team with the final 9.
To me this is the value of the last 9 games--to get the best draft position available. I don't care in fact I want to lose atleast 7 of these last 9 if not all 9.
Giving Curry and Jefferies as much time as possible to see if either can show something to increase their value.
Also giving extended PT to the two rookie fA's to see if they have something. Why spend the money on a 1 day contract if you dont play them? Who cares about schemes t this point--go play ball.
Herm Edwards--you play to win the game. This is where I am hoping what looks like a somewhat narcissistic competitive coach uses his brain. It's NOT in his best interests to win down the stretch. We NEED to get better draft positioning and make SURE we dont lose ground as it will be a tight market for the talent that we may want.
It is ABSOLUTELY 110% in our best interests to lose games. As a fan--we know it. The players don't think that way--they get paid and could care less what fans think. It's the gM nd the coach who can lay the foundation here for us to be competitive but make sure we truly fail down the stretch here by playing guys like Crawford Curry Jefferies and Sims extended minutes down the stretch. Sit david lee and his knees--give Wilcox more minutes to see what he has. try some new things but don't go all out seeking victory. If we win games because we shot 60%---OK---but I'd rather not.

There is something about developing chemistry- especially with the newer guys like Hughes who you might plan on being a major part of the rotation next year. But I don't see the last nine games as the time to do it.
Get Curry on the court and give him extended time. Make him realize how horribly out of shape he is. Embarass him- something has to work.
Jefferies is a known quantity- he could average 30 pts over the last stretch here and no team's interest level is going to change.

I would make Curry play heavy minutes and tell him that next season he will also be playing heavy minutes in an effort to scare him from exercising the player option on his contract. He clearly does not like to work so make him work for his $$$.
