Against a team with any kind of speed, that starting 5 will be left in the dust.
That front line has about as much lateral movement ability as of a bunch of South Park characters. Hughes' ability to play decent 1/1 D will be negated by the fact that he has to guard a PG, and Harrington, who has trouble against PF speed, will now have to guard a SF.
If Curry and Lee were both in prime shape, the lineup might work against certain teams, but you would run into trouble with it against most teams.
Even with Chris Paul New Orleans is slow--a half court based team that averages only 95 points a a game. This is a perfect game to get Eddy Curry back on to the court--see what Sims can do off the bench and experiment with a different bigger lineup. What exactly do the Knicks have to lose? We are 15 games under and dropping like a rock. Time to get Curry back on the court and since we are paying Sims and hes 6-10 lets see him get 15 minutes. Let me see Hughes as a PG.
The playoffs are over--it's done mathematical or not--the odds have now gone astronomically negative. We cant beat the Clippers or the Kings at home --lets take different looks. Maybe Eddy Curry puts up 12 and 6 in 20 minutes and continues that type of play through the last 10. Nothing to lose.
By the way since you seemed to have showed up the same time that Walsh and co have shown up--you may have missed that the best the NY Knicks have played in the last 8 years when Eddy Curry and D Lee and a very nice synergy going together back in 2006-2007.

New to the scene, not the sport. I'm old enough to have personally witnessed (as well as understand and appreciate the ball they played) the Frazier, Reed, DeBusschere, Bradley, Monroe, Lucas, etc. Knicks.
I know that Curry looked pretty good a few years ago- but this is not a few years ago, and even in his "prime," he was an average defender at best, and a relatively poor rebounder given his size and strength. Chandler is the only guy in that starting lineup you posted who has any defensive quickness at this point. Hughes has lost a step, and the others are just not good on D.
I would like to see what Sims might bring to the table, although I am not expecting to be blown away.
