10th pick - Cole Aldrich - 6'11" - 250lbs, good (not great) athlete, no-nonsense meat & pototoes big man who projects to have a Brad Miller type career

Do what you have to (use of expiring contracts, buying picks, Nate/Lee etc.) to acquire 2 middle 1st rounders. Target mature players from winning programs. 5 examples of those I think make sense include:

SF: Sam Young, Terrance Williams (both can play SG as well)
PG: Ty Lawson, Eric Maynor, Darren Collison

Common denominators of these guys: ATHLETICISM, well coached, can play up tempo, rock solid citizens, smart, good defenders, project as role players (albeit good ones)

This would seem to be the worst draft in a few years to trade our best assets for mid-level picks.
I like Aldrich, but it seems as if he's coming out next year.

listen to the announcer at the end...that sums up all thoughts on Ty Lawson...I would love for him to be the starting point guard for the NY Knicks.

I personally like Jonny Flynn over Collison. I was high on Collison for a while, but his luster has come off...he falls a bit short as a playmaker. Lawson improved a lot this year and looks like a true point. 3.4 A/TO from a college player? Wow.

Aldridge is one of those guys that I hope that we don't pick along with Buddinger and Curry. Not top end athletes to me.

Why doesn't Nick Wise get any love. The kid looks like he's good enough to be in the mix with the other PG's.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

We should be able to use cash for picks. If trading Lee/Nate, I agree that better to stagger the picks for future years (especially 2010).

Based on the economic and CBA factors, this draft should be packed and 2010 should be weak.

I don't get how this is a weak draft. Who cares what players are going top 3? We're not drafting up there.

What matters is what we can get at 9 and what we can buy late, and this is a great draft for that.

As far as trading Lee and Nate and getting value back for them... NEWSFLASH: There are two teams worse than us in the East. How good are Nate and Lee really?

If you change out Brackins for Lee and Maynor for Nate you have a cheaper and I would say potentially better team. We can't get much worse, I know that.

Yeah, I'm not suggesting using Nate/Lee straight up for a mid rounder.

I would. We're in a corner now as far as what we can get back for them and its not worth it to pay them.

ideal draft for me would be if we somehow managed to move up to the top 4 by utilizing the assets we have available.

if we could land either Griffin, Derozan, Hill or Jennings i would be ecstatic.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Has Jennings helped or hurt his draft status by heading to Italy for a year?

Jennings has stayed the same for the most part. Maybe he lost a couple of slots.
