They talked a bit about the draft, and what they look for in a player.

Now- yes, Dan doesn't necessarily speak for the organization, but clearly the philosophy is MDA's.

Specifically, for their bigs, they need them to be able to shoot.

Now, I have defended MDA from criticism that his system doesn't work. However, an insistance that your bigs can shoot is fairly short sighted, and is going to cause this team to forever pass over any bigs that could help shore up our defense.

Now I might be taking things to an extreme and putting words into their mouths, but I am slowly starting to feel like isles & some others here.

Is this is true, Franco?? MUHAHAHA. Dan D'Antoni had a lot of influence on prospects with the Suns and now with the Knicks. It is safe to say he speaks from the coaches point of view. Walsh will defer to D'Antoni who in the past has to Dan.

These guys aren't on the same page at all.

Hey I said it before, if Thabeet can prove he can shoot the 3 then he will be a Knick somehow. If not then who needs him. Defense? Defense? You win championships with offense and more offense. Anyone can be taught defense.

This is all such B.S. MDA simply wants players that are well rounded BB players. Ewing would've been a MDA favorite and I bet he would've found all kinds of ways to make use of his skills and I bet Ewing would've shattered records under MDA. I think MDA would've also made sure we had a real PG who could not only feed Ewing but all of the Knicks so that we would put extra pressure on the opposing team to try and stop us.

It's one thing to be a defensive team, but yet another to be a Championship team. Just cuz you can defend doesn't mean you can win the title. The Cav's defended at a high level, but had very little support scoring wise. They went and added more scoring punch and now they are for real. You need BOTH to win a title. I think MDA knows this as does Walsh. Let's not get silly about all this. Neither MDA nor Walsh have had a chance to really rebuild this team yet, so let's see what they do 1st before we cast so much doubt.

Just so you know. Under MDA, the Suns had some great Point Differentials, which most great teams tend to have. I don't care how many points you allow, cuz tempo has a lot to do with that. It's the point diff that shows if you get enough stops to win at a high %. MDA's teams always did that. Also part of the idea of MDA's system is to trick teams into playing at his pace. Only the Spurs and once the Mavs were really smart enough and talented enough to slow them down on a regular basis. Most other teams couldn't do it. If MDA and Walsh get us to the point of perennial contenders I'll take that right now and take my chances that we can get to the finals.

If he is only interested in c's that can shoot, that doesn't mean they have to shoot the 3, but it does mean that likely they'll suck on D. A center that can both shoot and play d is probably the hardest position to fill.

All I know is Amare was his Center and he couldn't shoot threes. Lee can't either.

D'Antoni would have passed on Ewing and taken Uwe Blab instead.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Is that the Patrick Ewing who sometimes played like a small forward?

Holy crap, you mean he might want 'Sheed or Horry or Camby or Divac or Olajuwan?

This sick bastard wants all around players? My god, nail him to the steak.

Even Larry Sanders was hitting mid-range shots today and he's as raw as they come. Its not all that much to ask of a prospect.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Briggs, they should have done whatever it took to get McGee late last year. I get the shooter thing, but having a pogo stick like that to bring in off the bench would have been key.

If we pull the same thing this year and skip over Mullens, Jordan, Sanders and potentially Hill and Monroe, then there are serious problems.

the only big that might be a fit for d'antoni that is worth anything is Duncan. And I have to imagine he might turn away from him.
