I think that would be a really great opportunity for the Knicks. Even if it took 2-3 years of development time--and I think that in the right position--like off the Knicks bench and with Steve Nash as a PG that he can play on the offensive end in the nBA right now---we can all see the necessity of acquiring a true C. If we can get Dorozan on top and Mullens around 17-20---not worrying that we need a 20 point scorer the second they hit the NBA--it would be a tremendous long term get. They can play and help now as they both develop. I have zero problem taking a guy who needs development time if I feel the long term talent is worth it. This guys going to be a very good offensive C down the line and will still have the big body we can teach how to play D.

see now this is different. I have no problem taking on high reward low risk investments like this guy 17-20.

Just be careful what you give up. If we move Lee/Nate to get an extra pick and take this guy remember we take a major step back next year. I am all for loading up on talent but its going to be tough following a 20 win team when in June you KNOW your going to be hearing Stern say "and with the #1 pick in the 2010 NBA draft the Utah Jazz select..."

Ouch.

I think there will be ample opportunity in this economy to buy a pick.

Fish, what's a major step back for this squad? If we stand pat, that's not good.

Toronto is the only team that's been behind the Knicks all year in the East and they'll be better next year.

Watch this Randle kid for Cal in the Maryland game. He's the one PG that hasn't gotten any pub this year.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Briggs, where do you rank Mullens versus some of the other bigs like Jordan, Sanders, Patterson etc. Clearly you think he's better as do the other draft guru sites, but what does he bring to the table versus the others?

you gotta think that curry is someone the knicks might target too.

is dorozan going that high?

nbadraft.net has him at 10, but draftexpress has him at 17.

the tourney could play a role in where he gets picked.

After Evans, Thabeet and Rubio go off the board it will be a crap shoot until the late teens.

Derozan could go anywhere from 8-18 as far as I see it.

Curry's another Reddick, Mustachio player to me. He'll be lucky if he's ever as good as Crawford on either end.

When Memphis plays look for the scouts in the audience when the camera pans across the crowd. They'll be the ones leaning forward with drool running down their faces.

Evans is more than NBA ready, he's ready to walk in and be a monster defender at the very least. Dude will go top 5 when all is said and done.

Griffin and Rubio are supposed to be top 2
Thabeet will go top five because he's a safe pick for GM's that are worried about their jobs
Harden, Monroe and Jennings have been mentioned for top 5 as well, but Evans keeps climbing.
Monroe is already done and had a bad 2nd half of the year.
Harden will have his chance. Let's see if he can get by Christmas.

he is surely a 1st round pick, but chad ford, and most draft boards i see have him at least 5-6 picks lower than 5.

ford has him in the mid-late 1st, but could sneak in the lotto with a good tourney.

draftexpress has him at 11 (with us taking him)

nbadraft has him at 27

we'll see, i guess, but there are other players more likely to wind up top 5:

hill
harden
warren

RealGM has him at #5 - he's only been at the point for a dozen games or so. That's when he really took off.

Evans, Warren, Derozan and Maynor are going to see their stock go up a lot between now and the draft.

If he falls it means that nobody wants him -- so if he's around at 17 that means 16 other GMs don't think he was worth a pick. Kind of like why Marcus Williams was available to us a few years ago.

I hear you on this Briggs and understand you like the guy and the NBA guys definitely aren't always right but I tend to relate a guy falling to getting something on sale.

You basically get what you pay for most of the time. You didn't get a $100 pair of sneakers for $40 -- you got a $40 pair of sneakers.

Hmm, you know what's alarming for Memphis? CalState has already scored more than Tulsa did in the CUSA championship and there's still 15 to go in their game.

That nobody kid saved their arses. 10 3's or Memphis would be dead.

JC is out of action went to the hospital sounds like he will be ok but the guy cant catch a break--if this keeps happening he will be gone.
